We came to eat here during our stay in Sendai. Although I found the food to be pretty good, the portions were quite small.
We also did not find the staff friendly at all. This is definitely not a family-friendly spot. We came in with our three children (4, 2, and 2 months), and by the looks the servers were giving us throughout, it was quite clear they are not used to families dining here. We asked for an extra plate to split some of the food for our kiddos, and they handed us a small one (not plastic). Unfortunately our son accidentally knocked the plate down and it broke. We apologized profusely for the incident and helped clean it up. Their response was very unfriendly, almost in shock that this happened. Pretty much all restaurants we’ve visited would give plastic plates for the kids to prevent incidents such as these as it is not uncommon for things to fall when handled by kids.
When we received the bill, we found that they added a fee for the broken plate (800 yen). This left a sour taste in our mouths as we were leaving. Usually when something accidentally breaks in a restaurant, the customer is not asked to compensate, especially when a child is involved. So honestly, we consider this to be terrible service.
Also, they did not have an English menu. I translated it using google translate photos and in the desserts, they had three cakes to choose from and from the translation I understood that each cake is 3 yen or they can give you a small « taste » of each cake for 5 yen. That’s what my translation said so I pointed to the 5 yen option. They gave us three cake pieces (although pretty big). It turns out they charged us 5 yen for each cake. Not sure what happened but this was not worth it honestly as the cakes were ok.
Also they did not serve us the drinks that came with the food. We had to ask them if the drinks were coming. We didnt get to drink them because they were served so late and we had to leave. No takeout cup option.
Overall we did not have a good experience at...
Read moreWe came here for lunch one day, it being one of the few places for vegan food in Sendai. I was a little hesitant when the menu simply said “today’s lunch plate” – I usually like to know what I’m getting – but it turned out to be a pretty tasty meal. It was a little pot of curry, with some brown rice, a salad, and a few other bits and pieces. The “vegan cheese” was unusual, unlike any other vegan cheese I’ve tried, but really pretty good! In fact it was all rather tasty and quite filling. It’s not the cheapest place, but it was a good meal so I don’t begrudge it too much. The dessert is a slightly different story. We bought a couple of things to take away – one small oatmeal cookie and one massive chocolate “brownie” (which was actually a muffin?). Both cost the same (high) price, which considering the difference in size felt a bit silly. The cookie was fine enough – it was crumbly and not very sweet, almost more like a granola bar than a cookie. The “brownie” was nicely chocolatey, but incredibly dense and rather dry – I couldn’t finish it all in one sitting. I wouldn’t say either of them were really worth the price. Overall though, the main meal was satisfying, the service was good and the staff were very friendly, so I’d recommend it if...
Read moreVegeto LIKO vegan restaurant located in the central area of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. The lunch plates are beautifully presented with carefully made side dishes and colorful vegetables, which is great for pictures as well. You can enjoy complete vegan junk and healthy food such as vegan burritos, Japanese deep fried chicken and many others.
The Karaage lunch menu set is just perfect, the batter is well-flavored, and the soy meat is just like the texture of chicken, it's firm, juicy and the taste is excellent. You may not notice that it's made of soybeans unless someone said it. Along with soy meat karaage there is also vegan tartar sauce, salad, rice and soup.
