Tiny little coffee bar run by a passionate gentleman who loves his coffee, anime and music. There is place for 3-4 people at the counter inside, and a small table for 2 more people outside.
My wife, daughter and I visited the shop on our first day of visit to Shizuoka. We had the best cappuccino that we ever had. He also gave us a complimentary espresso made from Robusta from Uganda. Explained to us the difference between Robusta and Arabica when it comes to bowel movements ;-)
He was curious about India. He used his phone to translate Japanese into Hindi and made an honest attempt to speak Hindi. The good conversation went on and we spent over an hour in the coffee shop. The kind man also gifted us a pack of local Matcha. We left an Indian currency bill as a token and he promptly pasted it on the space next to other currencies.
100% good vibes. If we get to visit Shizuoka again, we will visit the coffee...
Read moreI was there last night. Just wanted coffee, I could have gone back to the hotel to get a free one but saw this shop. Opens from 3pm to 2am. It's so different to Australia, cafes open from 5am to 2pm.
Anyways walked in, outside was cold and raining, and immediately could smell the coffee roast and soft 30s music.
Got an Americano , I normally don't drink long blacks but I watched him watch the coffee. He was monitoring the espresso machine.
I thought initially, maybe I'm not sociable or scary. Nope, this guy loves his coffee and full tunnel vision into making sure the coffee is good.
So I get my Americano or long black takeaway... Step into the cold outside. I could smell my coffee. It's so weird, I haven't had this nice roasted toasty smell in a long time.
Had a taste, it's done expertly. The sweet bean notes are retain in the back of my palette.
This is...

I visited the shop on Sunday night. Although it's small with only about five counter seats, the master is very knowledgeable and interesting to talk to. At first, the master seemed busy and it was difficult to start a conversation, but once we started talking, he was very friendly. There were various items on the menu, but I tried the espresso first. It was not bitter and very delicious. As I talked with the master, I lost track of time and ended up staying for two hours. When I left the shop, the master said "Chao~" to me, which was very impressive, and I responded in the same way. Although the shop is compact, it allows you to relax and enjoy your coffee while being close to the master. Moreover, I learned a lot about the history of coffee, which greatly improved my vague knowledge about it. I don't live in the city, so I can't go there frequently, but I definitely want to visit...
