Listen. We all know why we're here, and there will be no judgement. How can anyone resist the temptation. Picture a window in the wall, dispensing fresh crispy chicken with no end. Now picture that mystical window surrounded by pastas, rice, soups and salads, all manners of sides, traditional Japanese foods, juices, cakes and ice cream...It's magic, I tell you. This KFC buffet is magical.
Stepping into this KFC is like stepping into a stylized KFC commercial. The cute little vintage building with the sunny greenhouse area and the wood table full of Japan's signature wax food replicas; really feels more French cafe than fast food restaurant. Maybe it's the buffet style or the restaurant atmosphere but you don't feel the same type of shame when stuffing 10 pieces of KFC chicken down your throat because in here, it's encouraged!
Much to my surprise, the chicken was actually the least impressive part. Maybe because it's buffet style so it's mass-produced and sits around, drying out. But they do serve up a crispier variety along with the traditional KFC chicken, which was pretty good. Then you get fried fish, curry and fried rice, quiches and pizzas, garlic bread, french fries and mashed potatoes, roasted veggies and salad bar, mini pancakes, and even sweet Japanese-style egg.
Yes, you can drink beer, or just grab a glass of juices or cup of coffee from their beverage station. And when you need to satisfy your sweet tooth, they've got a huge variety of cakes, puddings, and ice cream. For me, nothing was a standout, as expected from a typical buffet line up. It was a cute experience though. My husband discovered they had Brazilian cheese breads, or pão de queijo, and stuffed himself to the brim with basically just that.
Would I do it again? Yes, but I wouldn't crave it. The experience was more memorable than the food. However, isolated within the the huge complex that is Expocity Osaka, it definitely becomes an attractive lunchtime option in an activity-filled day. See some aquatic animals, ride a ferris wheel, visit the Gundam cafe, and then eat endless fried chicken. Sounds like a pretty...
Read moreJuly 2024 update: No longer have gravy or mashed potatoes. Also no longer providing salt even if you ask. Biscuit scone thing is undercooked and doughy. Chicken very greasy and overcooked... Also still don't offer any other options other than the original. For an eat all you want buffet, the offerings aren't terrible, but when the variety they used to have has gone... Well, I won't be bothering coming back. Almost 3000 yen (per person for 80min) seems too expensive for what it is and what you get. If you want to try it - come for lunch.
Original review: This is the All-you-can-eat buffet version of KFC. Lunch is better value than dinner. You're given 90min for about 2000 yen (I can't remember exactly, but I do remember the dinner time price is about 1000 yen per person more). This place gets VERY busy - get in the queue using the iPad or lalaPort app [Japanese needed for the app]. Sadly they didn't have any flavours of chicken available - just the standard one - when I visited. There is everything usually found on the Japanese KFC menu plus some extra bits and pieces including gravy and mashed potatoes! Lacking in salt but you can ask the various staff for some and they'll bring it to you. Nice to do at least once for the novelty, but doubt i'd be in a hurry...

The place is immaculate and clean. Nice relax vibe.
Now to the food specially the chicken is 'Finger Lickin Dry' yes thats right the chickens are dry! It doesn' taste like a-la carte KFC. Nice crispy oily. Here they are like old overnight chicken re-heated most probably microwave and walah KFC chicken.
It may be overnight chickens from KFCs around Osaka brought here.
As for the rest they are ok. Tasteless pastas. No salt or pepper anywhere to be found. Best thing here is the potato wedges. KFC Japan for some reason don't have French Fries, yes whole of Japan.
I live in Japan so I can honestly say this KFC buffet is nothing special. The chicken are so dry that I only ate 2 piece. It was tasteless.
No sauce. No salt. No ketchups. No pepper.
Although please come and try it out. Expo City itself is a good...
