Delicious ramen, kind service, and vegetarian/vegan options! They have vegan food for breakfast but, more importantly, vegetarian ramen for dinner for after a long day of hiking Kumano Kodo. The shoyu ramen can be made vegetarian (with the option to + an egg), just make sure you notify the staff in advance so they can make the adjustment to your ticket (you order based on a ticketing system when you first enter the restaurant; make sure you bring cash as it’s cash only). There are 3 ramen options for dinner: shoyu, miso, and plum salt base. I quite like a small and concise menu, so I thought this was perfect. This is the place to be after being out on the trail…NOTE: it’s one of, if not the only, restaurants that’s open for dinner in the area. Therefore, it can get quite busy at night and we had to wait in a queue to get a table, but it didn’t take very long and the waitstaff were hospitable and quick.

Not a conventional ramen place but the soup base options are all pretty good (miso very strong taste and oily; salt is very fresh with Yuzu; soy sauce is fresh and a bit sour); the pork chashu is a bit too thin but still tastes good. This is a very good place to stop by for a light lunch or dinner after visiting Kumano Hongu Taisha. The owner is extremely welcoming and friendly.

There aren’t many restaurant options in Hongū, but Mitsuashi is an excellent ramen shop. I highly recommend the Miso Ramen—it's rich, flavorful, and a perfect post-hike meal. The owner is incredibly friendly and speaks some English, and the staff is warm and welcoming. This is a great spot to refuel after hiking the Dainichigoe route or visiting Hongū Taisha and Oyunohara.

Literally awesome even though it is quite small the Udon is delicious. The staff welcomed us warmly in as we ordered food. They gave us cold water (since it was a super hot day) and we sat down. They made our food quickly and gave it to us without hesitation. We ordered extra egg and it was the best egg I have ate so far. Highly recommend it to families, couples, and singles! — according to my...

We had a fantastic lunch at Mitsuashi's Noodle shop. The ramen was absolutely excellent, rich in flavor and perfectly prepared. The staff were friendly and attentive, and it was a pleasant surprise that they spoke English so well, which made everything even more comfortable. We were super satisfied with our choice, and overall it was a great experience. Definitely a spot worth stopping by if you’re in...
