If you're reading this, you've found a gem! It's so good, I don't want others to know this secret. (It's honestly better than most Michelin 1-star restaurants that I've been.) But this shop is a labor of love and more people deserve to experience it. I swear this isn't a paid review: I'm just -that- enamored with this place.
What other reviewers say is true: this is a sake drinker's paradise! But the food is also deliciously compelling, especially the off-menu specials.
What makes Mujo a memorable experience is Ohara Tatsuki's hospitality. When you sit at his bar, you're experiencing his passion and creativity and humor through his culinary craft. Ultimately, it's his sake pairings that hits those rarified true notes of artistic expression. Through his varied collection, Tatsuki conducts an orchestra of liquor that surprises the sense.
Tatsuki's also fluent in English. He naturally plays the role of Puck — humourously leading passer-bys into a fanstatical midsummer dream of sake. There's also the cast of diverse regulars that give the restaurant a vibe of "Midnight Diner".

Read moreMujo was an amazing experience. I spent 2 weeks in Japan and this one my favorite food experience. The owner and chef was knowledgeable on everything that he serves. His Sake collection is vast and he explains the history of each one. He shows on a map, the location of where all the food was farmed, raised, or caught. All of which is extremely fresh. He also speaks English! This makes the eating experience even better for foreign visitors. I was the only foreigner in the restaurant and the food was all very traditional. As the Sake poured the small group of diners started to open up and we had a great group experience. The prices were amazing and you get to see the chef cook everything right in front of you. This restaurant is highly...
Read moreA small local bar/restaurant with an owner with surprisingly deep knowledge of sake & shochu and good personality. You can enjoy a wide variety of sake and shochu, both classic and new ones and also seasonal ones (some are on the menu but there are a lot more behind the counter, so just ask for it!), with lovely dishes that go very well with drinks. The owner can speak English fluently and willing to share his knowledge and also can recommend drinks to your taste, so it’s a great place to explore new flavours. The place is rather small with only counter seats, but you’ll definitely enjoy talking with the owner as well as random chats with regular customers like myself!...
