It's hard to put into words just how much we loved our 11-day stay at Neko Neko Inn! The quiet little neighborhood is conveniently located close to Sangūbashi Station on the Odakyu Line, with easy access to all of the sights and sounds of big city Tokyo. It was nice to be able to go out to explore the city, and beyond, and then have our tranquil retreat waiting for us at the end of the day. There are so many little details that make a stay here so cozy, from cat-themed slippers by the door that say "Welcome Home" to the warm glow of the vending machine when returning to the neighborhood after dark.
There are grocery stores, a post office, restaurants and convenience stores all just a short walk away. We made many trips to Yoyogi Park and the Meiji Shrine, since they are also within walking distance. A few times we decided to get off at the Yoyogi-koen station instead of making the connection to the Odakyu line, just to walk through Yoyogi Park on the way home. I say "home" because that's how we came to feel about Neko Neko Inn.
You will have all of the necessities of home here, including high-speed Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, iron and board, a kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals, a dining area, a couch (with cute cat pillows) and a large-screen TV. My son and daughter enjoyed learning some Japanese by watching Spongebob in Japanese with English subtitles on Netflix!
These are some of the things that will make a stay at Neko Neko Inn enjoyable for anyone, but probably the best part about the inn is the personalized experiences that are unique to each guest. I can't say enough about what a wonderful host Ushka is! My daughter celebrated a birthday during our stay, and Ushka made it extra special for her. Our welcome basket included a "Happy Birthday" tiara. On my daughter's birthday, she was delighted to return after our trip to Sanrio Puroland to find that Ushka had left a card and little cat gifts for her. It's thoughtful gestures like this that make a stay here so memorable.
Ushka is also easily reachable by email and always responds promptly. It made me feel at ease in an unfamiliar city, knowing that she lives close by and was just an email or short walk away. In fact, it really added to the neighborhood feel when we were walking to Sangūbashi Station one day and met Ushka along the road.
When I saw the dates available to stay at Neko Neko Inn during the time period that we hoped to visit Tokyo, I couldn't believe our luck. We just arrived home from our trip yesterday, and I still can't believe it. Even though I knew what to expect from watching Sharla's Neko Neko Inn videos on YouTube, the experience exceeded my expectations. We had the most amazing stay! If you are fortunate to get a chance to book a reservation...
Read moreNeko Neko Inn is the perfect home away from home! I stayed here with my 2 teenagers for 3 weeks. There are so many wonderful little details to find throughout the house that the first night we simply tried to find all the cats. The beds are cozy, the kitchen has everything you need, and the combo washer/dryer is a life saver. We looked forward to "going home" at the end of the day since this quickly became home away from home. The secret nook was the perfect sanctuary for my autistic daughter to unwind at the end of the day. She loved laying in the dark with cozy plush and warm blankets while looking at the stars on the ceiling. The location is perfect! There is every convenience within 2-3 minutes including a grocery store, post office, 7-11, and multiple restaurants. It's a short walk or train ride to anywhere in Tokyo. We walked to Harajuku station or took a local train to Shinjuku or Shibuya almost daily. You can walk to Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park every day if you want they are so close. It was a nice way to start or end the day. You can easily get to a Shinkansen if you have other destinations outside of Tokyo. We did day trips to Osaka, Kyoto, etc. Ushka is the best hostess. When I would have a question she would quickly answer with fantastic ideas and suggestions. She was so kind, helpful, funny, and a delight to talk to! I simply can not recommend Neko Neko Inn enough. We will be coming back for a Spring or Summer...
Read moreSix day stay in April 2023. Thanks to Ushka, we were able store our luggage ahead of check in. There are a high amount of amenities offered. For example, I did not need to unpack a number of my toiletries because NNI was already stocked with high quality sunscreen and face wash. Grocery shopping need was reduced because the fridge/freezer was already stocked with eggs, bread, jam, and edamame.
The only potential suggestions I would make is that 1) since everything is so well stocked, there's a premium for space when it comes to having enough room to stock your own items as a guest. I think it's a good and deliberate choice not to have many closed drawers because that's a good way for guests to forget items, but an open shelf in the bathroom might be a good way for folks to have room to place toiletry bags. The only potential spot I identified is the exterior wall to the side of the toilet and I'm not sure if that would impact taller guests. 2) The bean bag chair is wildly uncomfortable for an old and will destroy your back in minutes, plus it eats up a lot of space. I wonder if this would be a good candidate for small shelving and more comfortable, space efficient seat? YMMV though, this could be a popular...
