I had garlic-flavored ramen. This time I tried rice flour noodles, which tasted like soba noodles. It's also super tasty to add rice to the remaining soup, so I hope you'll try it! (post added on December 14, 2024) The vegan curry (the rice was germinated fermented brown rice!) was delicious as well as the vegan ramen. Apparently, this ramen shop was originally a restaurant that served soup curry, not ramen, so it was full of attention to detail. (post added on October 26, 2024) I come here to eat when I have a chance to visit the Tokyo area for work. The owner of this restaurant, which opened in 2008, is a one-man operation. The owner has a strong commitment to thoroughly avoid using ingredients that contain food additives that may be harmful to health. The ramen soup is made with vegetable stock and yeast liquid derived from brown rice, which gives it a distinctive flavor and leaves a lingering strong aftertaste. The noodles are not Chinese noodles, but thin pasta noodles like capellini, which may feel strange to some people (I think the reason he don't use Chinese noodles is to avoid kansui, a food additive). You can also change the noodles to rice noodles. The fried dumplings are also very delicious and will go well with alcohol. It's a little far from the station, about a 10-minute walk, but the parking lots nearby aren't too expensive, so you can come by car even from far away.

As a vegan, i don’t want to write a bad review for vegan friendly restaurants. And so this is my first google review. I went there today and i ordered three ramens and 3 pieces of ghoza and the ramen arrived very fast. But something seems wrong with tan tan style ramen. We’ve seen that how that ramen looks like in the menu and also in the google review and it was obviously different with we’ve seen in the pictures. And so my little sister who normally eat everything well, she thought that ramen was unsalted and tasteless. (You can see the picture and there is nothing like chilli oil or powder or something looks like it tells us tan-tan.) We asked about it and he told us it’s their style. (He doesn’t seems like really care about that ramen he made for us. He didn’t even looked at the ramen he made.) I personally don’t want to make a problem with anyone so i left the restaurant without more asks but i still feel so bad for him and sorry for my sister. Hopefully people who order tan tan style ramen in this restaurant will get a right taste.

Great vegan ramen! This is a quaint and cozy spot in what turned out to be my favorite neighborhood in Tokyo. The manager and chef were both so friendly and even went over the options with me to consider my allergens and preferences. Everything is made from scratch right in front of you. Also, I didn't even order dessert, but the manager considered my allergies and whipped up a delicious, raw pudding of some sort. The manager even walked me out of the restaurant and provided directions to the main road/metro station. All in all, a great meal and experience. I will be back next time I am in Tokyo!

You know when you go to Shimo Kitazawa you will find something special there, and this is it. Some reviewers have said the place is cramped and although I agree that the place is small, we went there during a Thursday lunch service and had the whole place to our selves. Before I comment on the food, I just wanted to say that this kind of setting simply strikes a chord with me - tiny quaint ramen bar on the first floor of a residential building with homely decorated walls and a classic untouched by 2000's modernity where the chef is a meter away from you. We ordered the dragon ramen and the curry ramen as well as deep fried chicken but our curry ramen was forgotten. The dragon ramen was good, albeit a little oily and the vegetables were not too palatable. As mentioned by others, the meal comes with a free salad and dessert. Personally the food was maybe about a 3-3.5 but I cannot fault how nicely this place appeals to me. Others seemed to have liked the dragon ramen (essentially flagship) but if you're like me and feel attracted to the atmosphere I have outlined, it is...
