illi Sun Shimokitazawa — Hotel in Tokyo

The room was disappointing. I was deceived by the photos, which depicted a modern and industrial look. It might have been nice five years ago, but it looked dirty upon close inspection. The industrial design actually made everything appear even dirtier. The loft bed was unusable because it smelled. The couch also had an odor, and it probably can't be washed. The shower was terrible, like something you'd find in a super cheap hotel. After staying at OMO 7 Hoshino Resort, I find the cleanliness here to be subpar—it needs a deep clan and renovation.

However, the location was excellent, right in the heart of Shimokitazawa. There are so many Izakayas and restaurants that stay open late, as well as coffee shops that open early in the morning. There's also an organic supermarket, Bio-Ral. The vibe of the...

Probably one of the best locations in Tokyo. 1 min. From the train station, and surrounded by one of the most chic neighborhoods in Tokyo: Shimokitazawa, known as "shimokita" by the locals. Were 5 people, so the room was a bit crowded, but we'll equipped and clean. Replacing the rug floor covering with wood floor, will do justice to the apartment. Service was OK, though there are some cons in not having a reception: For one, more flexible check-in/out times, and a way to store luggage is important when you travel from far away (24 hours, from when we left home until we arrived to the apartment) - and considering the price you pay, you might expect a better service on that end. Otherwise, it was fun, convenient and cozy. Ask for apartment 301. It has a balcony...

Outrageously spacious room (by Tokyo standards) with generously sized beds. Clean & tidy with great facilities. Location was everything we hoped for - super convenient to transport, food, shopping. No TV in our room (but not really missed by the teenagers) and laundry/ shower had a lingering “sewage smell” (not sure why??). Even with the construction work outside, it wasn’t too noisy. The wifi was down when we tried to check-in, so the iPad check-in process did not work :( No answer on the phone number listed :( Luckily email queries were answered pretty promptly and after a few back-and-forth emails we got the code that let us into the room (phew!).
