I've been coming to Daily Chiko for over 20 years now. Their system changed a bit since Covid, but the product hasn't changed at all. The English explanations should suffice even if your Japanese skill is next to 0. You choose a size, cup or cone, then the number in accordance to the flavor. Admittedly, I never found the desire to order the massive all-flavor rainbow tower, as I'm pleased with my usual M size and 3 flavors. Do not miss this wonderful little slice of Nakano if visiting!!
The rules for eating your ice cream are pretty strict. Walking around the mall slobbering as you go are big no-no's, but I'm sure you can make a beeline for the exit, cone in hand with an occasional lick. There's like 3 places to sit, and other than that, standing room only. Please please PLEASE be mindful of your drippings (or God forbid, tower collapse) if you have young kids, eat slowly, or if it's a particularly hot day. I'm sure this why they don't allow you to sit or eat anywhere but the vicinity...
Read moreIf you're an ice cream lover, then you definitely have to visit this location. The ice cream itself is full of flavor and very creamy. I saw a couple of Vlogs on YouTube regarding this location and I was ready to try the huge soft serve ice cream with all of the flavors, but once I got there I decided not to order it. Unfortunately, the sesame and sweet potato flavors did not appeal to me. I ended up ordering a cone with four flavors; strawberry, coffee, vanilla, and ramune. The total was roughly about $3 USD. By far, my favorite flavor was the ramune flavored ice cream, delicious and refreshing. Ordering was not a problem, there was a language barrier at first, but luckily the person taking the order was very helpful during the ordering process. Daily Chicko is "out of the way" compared to other locations. It's located with Nakano Broadway, roughly about 30mins away...
Read moreI have to say, this kind of soft serve ice cream is the best! Arrived with plenty of time, and even explored broadway (the name of the centre it’s in)
don’t expect some fancy ice cream here! You get an authentic Japanese style soft cream which is easy to devour!! So cheap too!!! Honestly they could totally up the price if they wanted..
The service people must be very stressed, but they were very kind and worked very quickly! Also very happy as I managed to finish the giant ice cream on my own!
There are 3 chairs around the side of the store if you want to relax. However, you really need to be a fast eater to avoid any spills.
Make a day out of coming out to west Tokyo! Start with exploring Nakano (and all these great ice cream flavours) and then go and explore the next station Koenji ! A completely new side of Tokyo that you don’t get in the normal...
