I recently had the pleasure of visiting Zauo Fishin Restaurant in Meguro, Tokyo, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. While I am aware of other branches in Shinjuku and Shibuya, I must say that the Meguro location holds a special place in my heart.
I have visited this branch twice now, and on both occasions, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction. The highlight of my visits was celebrating my birthday there, and to my delight, they surprised me with a complimentary cake. Their thoughtfulness and kindness truly made the evening extra special.
At Zauo, guests have the unique opportunity to fish for their own food, which adds an interactive and engaging element to the dining experience. Although it takes some time and patience, the feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment when catching your own fish is truly worth it. However, if fishing isn't your strong suit, you can always opt to order from their menu.
While Zauo Fishin Restaurant is undeniably a bit on the expensive side, the quality of the seafood and the overall experience justifies the cost. I would highly recommend making reservations in advance to secure a table, as this popular restaurant tends to get busy, especially during peak hours.
If you're looking for a unique and memorable dinner experience in Tokyo, Zauo Fishin Restaurant in Meguro is a must-visit. Read moreI saw this online and wanted to try it with my wife on our honeymoon. It was located on the 5th floor of the building, but not very far from the subway station.
The experience of fishing for your own food was fun and the food was of course very fresh! You would pay 100 yen for each fishing rod and there would be bait and nets near the fishing pools. However, the fish were NOT hungry and would not take the bait.
A tip for catching the fish Don't use the bait. Instead, bring the hook near the fish's mouth and give a good tug to hook the fish. This strategy is more effective on larger fish.
I got a little excited easily catching the fish that I ended up catching more than I could eat (1 flounder and 2 red snappers). Thankfully the staff take their time to bring out each fish for you to eat, so I asked them to cancel one of the fish and they did not charge me for it!
One complaint I would have is that the fishing experience can be pretty messy, my wife and I got fish blood on our clothes. It would be an immense improvement if they could provide some simple aprons for the guests while fishing...or don't wear...
Read moreThe fish restaurant provided a unique experience that I would recommend trying. The highlight was the opportunity to fish from a large tank and have your catch prepared fresh for you to enjoy. It's a fun activity, especially for families with children.
To make the most of your visit, it's advisable to book in advance as availability may be limited. You can enjoy your time there for a duration of two hours and choose from a variety of fish prepared using different cooking methods. Personally, I enjoyed the deep-fried and fried options the most.
I also tried the red fish with lemon, which was delicious and flavorful. It's worth noting that the prices are a bit on the expensive side, and the portions may not leave you completely full. However, the experience itself is worthwhile.
The restaurant ensures that the fish served is halal, but it's important to be aware and avoid any dishes that may contain alcohol in the cooking process.
In conclusion, the fish restaurant offers a unique and enjoyable dining experience. The interactive fishing activity and the tasty array of dishes make it a...
