Godawari — Restaurant in Tokyo

Dear Owner/Chef/Wait Staff:

My wife and I had lunch at Godawari on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. We have been regular diners at your restaurant for the past year, as we really enjoy and appreciate all of your many delicious dishes.

However, after our last visit, both of us experienced a dangerously high fever soon after lunch. It was very bad. We went to the hospital the next morning, went through medical tests, and received treatment to help relieve the symptoms and pain. The suspected cause was “Food Poisoning”.

As unfortunate as it was, I would just like to suggest that you check to make sure that your kitchen and wait staff is taking precaution to sanitary conditions when handling food and drinks. We noticed that the meat of the shish kebab was undercooked, and the taste of the mutton curry were saltier than usual.

Mostly noticeable was that “the beer mugs were dirty”. They did not seem properly washed. There was oil and residue at the brim. We noticed this after we drank from the cups and we feel that this may be the reason that we became sick.

My hope is that you take this as a constructive note in keeping safety to all future diners at your restaurant.

Please do look into this matter as the risk of health and safety to other diners could be more serious than ours.

Pretty big place currently about 40 seats, trying to spatial distance them. Kind of vanilla Izakaya atmosphere. There's a sign at the entrance about social distancing before you go downstairs, and my seat was in front of a nice refreshing air conditioner. Friendly Nepali staff gave me the idea of taking a picture, including mask showing how serious they are. No Wi-Fi, but there was a weak signal from somewhere else.
