Hands down, truly one of the best ever halal ramen establishment I’ve ever tasted. The location is slightly out of the way from your usual tourist routes but we never regretted it, not one bit. It’s very similar to the one in Kyoto taste wise. This time we managed to get the instant ramen to bring back home!! The one in Kyoto was sold out which was sad for us. We had to wait for around 15-20mins but it was fine since it’s dinner time. The shop is very scarily narrow and very quaint (and I mean quaint) especially the stairs going up and down. It might be a little uncomfortable going up and down the stairs but otherwise sitting down you’re okay. The service was 5 stars as the staff were so accommodating , friendly and service is fast from the time of order but the flavourful taste of the ramen I assure you was not compromised at all. We ordered the spicy chicken ramen cause it’s our favourite!! There were other foreigners like from England who also raves about the ramen here which goes to show how much you have to try their ramen! It has a rich and thick broth and the chicken is soft, tender and juicy. The noodles are soft and springy and it’s absolutely a delight to come back here again and again. I’ll recommend you to all my friends back home! Arigatogozaimasu!

So happy to find this place. Halal ramen for us is different as our usual places to eat this are fish or vegi based. Being able to eat the spicy chicken ramen has left us spoiled. It is spicy but not overpoweringly so. It’s is a very small restaurant but whilst we were there their was a line outside waiting for takeout at sit down. You have to place your order at a ticket machine (cash only) and then give the tickets to the person behind the counter. There was 3 or 4 seats around the front counter and an upstairs sit down area. Shoes must be taken off prior to go upstairs. Upstairs you will find a small area with 3 tables that can seat up to 4 persons. There are no chairs upstairs as you sit on the floor. Not recommended if you have mobility issues as the stair case is steep and narrow, floor seating is fairly cramped also. Other than that I would highly recommend you try this place.

I have visited the Honolu in Osaka MULTIPLE times on multiple different trips. I support halal businesses but this outlet in Ebisu I will not return to. WAIT TIME: We were 2 people and waited more than 30 minutes during dinner time - which was fine as we are well aware halal places in Japan are small and there will be a wait time. I made myself known to the staff that I was waiting outside for 2 people – he acknowledged me. There were 2 ladies in front of us and we knew they were next to dine in. So, we waited our turn. Note to DINERS – have courtesy to pay attention to your surroundings, if you see people in front of you wait your turn or open your mouth and ask if they are waiting to dine in or waiting for takeout. There was a couple who came after me (2 girls are still in the line before us) and expected to be seated. The 2 girls went in and after 10 mins, 2 other diners left so it was MY turn to go in. The couple who came after me proceeded to head to the seats while we were seated at the waiting area. I told the staff I was next and those grudgingly got up and waited outside. We were seated downstairs at the bar area in front of food prep. MENU – Like any ramen place, you need to pay and order via a vending machine (coin only) pass your ticket to the staff. Menu does not make sense, the fried chicken ramen was not available on the machine but the fried chicken ala carte was available. They want you to add on these things. Lots of things sold out like Gyoza. FOOD – This it where it got extremely disappointing and UNHYGIENIC! So, while waiting for our food (soup broth to be heated) the couple behind us table was ready, they proceed to order – they did not have any coins and asked for the staff to change coins for them. The staff with her bare hands took their money and exchanged the coins. SHE DID NOT CLEAN HER HANDS AFTER and proceed to plate our ramen. I watched as everything was handled with chopsticks – fine… then when it got to the seaweed, she used her same unclean hands to pick it up and plate it. I did not eat that touched seaweed. Food was disappointing considering I have been to Honolu before and know their standards – everything came from plastic containers in the fridge – the chicken pieces, egg and minced meat was COLD and needed to be heated up in the soup. The fried chicken came after we were almost done with our ramen. Fried Chicken was good and hot but not worth the price. HYGIENE – considering this is Japan and also living in a post covid world – food handling was horrible. Only the lady plating the ramen was only one wearing a mask – other staff were not. She was not wearing gloves – other staff also were not wearing gloves. She didn’t clean her hands after touching money. Best part came after I finished my meal – it was getting to closing time and they were packing away their stuff into more containers to go into the fridge. Another guy appeared (not the cook) he proceeded to put the ingredients into the containers – he did not wear a mask or gloves and he was clearing his throat / coughing the entire time. He even coughed into his right hand and continued to go back putting things into containers. He did this in full sight of the customers seated downstairs. WORLD CLASS. FYI - the Thai restaurant next door uses Halal meat as they posted at the entrance (we saw this while waiting).

Imma drop one star for the ramen even-though it taste average. My friend and i came for the halal gyoza where we found they already sold out, eventhough it still 18:00 pm which means just an hour after the dinner open time. Also this restaurant has a very weird system, they dont let customers in eventhough there’re vacant seats instead they waited for all customers until they finished and left, its like a session eating time 🙄 so if you came as two pairs you cant get in until the other two pairs on the inside finished eating eventhough the 4 seated tables are vacant!!! which is very frustrating! So we had to wait for a long line until the restaurant is empty. How stupid. The place is really small and narrow, like people get bumped to my back while i was eating because the order machine is right behind me. Can y’all imagine how frustrating it is, cant enjoy my ramen in piece. The staff manner is below average. Not recommended. Will never coming back again.

Found this place because of some recommendations on the internet. And it never crosses my mind that the cook is actually an Indonesian. It was a small place you can found inside a building, I thought it will be outside but you have to enter the building. It also serves you using machine. So you don’t have to really communicate with the waiter. Taste-wise, the broth is light and less topping although it seemed that the broth will be rich. It is good but I used to a richer broth compared to this ramen, so for me personally it’s just an okay. And less topping! That disappointed me honestly. Once again I used to eat ramen with richer broth and toppings, so as a person who came to Japan for its ramen this is quite disappointing. If you want to be safe and eat halal ramen maybe this is a great choice for you. But I think I might be trying another ramen if I am back in Japan.

Looking for a thick-broth halal chicken ramen? This is the one. Your tastebuds will be spoiled by the umami of the broth, the juicy chicken, and perfect-bite noodles. The bamboo shoots are just right to complement the whole dish. The spicy ramen has the perfect amount of spiciness where it can make you sweat but it will not burn your toungue. Since this is a halal ramen, the price is a bit more expensive than non-halal ramen because they have to get halal ingredients. However, what you get in the bowl is totally worth the price. This place is popular during lunch time, even during weekdays. Just make sure you come either right on the opening time to avoid the long line or an hour before their closing time in the afternoon. When you come here, you can hear other visitors speaking in many different languages.
