Local India Ebisu — Restaurant in Tokyo

About 40 seats in a spacious atmosphere with good Covid precautions. Hard to describe, but it feels like it was converted from something else with a few Indian decorations added later. Closer to Yebisu Garden Place than I realized from Google Maps directions, which also led me to a non-existent back entrance. Friendly staff let me wait inside though I was a few minutes early for opening. Seems to have access to free Wi-Fi, though I didn't test it. Lunch menu seems narrow and a bit expensive, but the location is better than it appears from Google Maps. Pretty sure the waitress is Japanese and I barely saw the rest of the staff.

Thick base for the butter chicken curry, and slightly sweet in spite of the spice, but a Japanese mild level. The naan was uniformly crisp on the bottom, an unusual effect that I think was deliberate and tasty. Bubbly, too. Hot oven? It balanced well with the smooth curry. I want to call the salad excellent and overall a strong four stars.

As I left, I checked and found the cook is indian. Maybe that's where he got the naan style from?

On the way back I just discovered that it's close to the exit from the slide walk from Ebisu Station. Much easier route than Google's...

Local India Ebisu located right outside the Ebisu station is very easy to spot. Just like any other Indian restaurant in Tokyo, they also have very limited options. Since it is close to the station and my hotel I have visited this hotel many times and everytime ordered something different. Not that it is the greatest but just enough to keep you full. The chicken biryani they offer is good and I like it but it's no where close to the Indian birayanis we eat. May be an adaptation. Lol. Do visit and try out the food there. Went there for dinner on a week day, no wait needed. Ordered curry with Naan, you can order all the naan you want for free, but I don’t think a lot of people will do that, specially since the portion of curry is not that big.
