An unexpected but really good place for Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) hidden in the basement on the opposite side of Tokyo Dome. Just a few minutes walk from Suidobashi station. Inside is very nicely decorated, feels authentic and special. I also noticed that most of their customers are the locals. Their menu was massive and all in Japanese. I know enough to understand and order so I didn't ask if they have English menu. Service was as expected, efficient and quick. Staffs are always moving about and eager to help. Food tastes really good. The cutlet is perfectly crispy yet tender and juicy on the inside. They also give free side dishes of assorted pickles and cabbage salad w/ soy vinegrette.

What a cute little restaurant in Tokyo! My husband and I were trying to find a place that serves katsudon and this place did not disappoint! The ambiance was really cool especially if you want to experience an authentic Japanese dining. It was a little hard to communicate with our server though since she can’t speak English. If you are visiting for the first time, know enough Japanese words and phrases or use some app that will help you translate things off the menu to order food successfully. Otherwise, great food and amazing ambiance!

Recommended by a colleague, Katsukichi (かつ吉 水道橋店) delivered an exceptional Tonkatsu experience. The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served on a beautifully crafted ceramic plate with finely shredded cabbage and fragrant rice. Each bite was flavorful and satisfying, showcasing true culinary craftsmanship. The warm ambiance and attentive service added to the overall experience, making this a must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic Japanese Tonkatsu.

水道橋のかつ吉さん 夜昼共に何度か利用したことはあったが、実は肝心のカツ定食をいただいたことがなかったw で、改めて(昼呑み付きで)ロースカツ定食をいただくぞ！と気合を入れてランチ時に訪問。 席に着くと、かつ吉さん定番の大きな木製メニューがどーんとお出迎え。 今回ロースカツ定食は120gにしておいた。 なぜならかつ吉さんはサラダ、漬物、ご飯(普通のご飯またはシソご飯)、味噌汁はお代わり出来ちゃうから。 もしかしたらサラダやご飯のお代わりをしちゃうかも？と一応計算。 で、大好きなシソご飯を選択。 (これ選ばない人いるのかな) で、席に設てある呼び鈴をチリンと鳴らして店員さんをお呼びするのも風情あり。 (ブザー等電子音はこの歴史ある佇まいには似合わないよね) まもなく赤ワイン、サラダと漬物三種盛りが到着。 サラダのドレッシングは別容器に入れて持ってきてくれるので好きなタイミングで好きなだけかけていただけるのが○。 漬物三種盛り、、、あれ？ 大根の漬物、前(2年ぶりくらいw)こんなんだったっけ？ 胡麻油風味の独特の味付けでお代わりするくらい好きだったけど、、、 なんかさっぱりポン酢系の味付けに変わってると思う。 キムチは好みの味。 野沢菜漬け、、、まぁ普通。 ワインをチビチビやりながら待つことしばし。 さて、やって参りました、ロースカツ！ うんうん、これこれ！ こーゆー色味の薄い低温でじっくり揚げたヤツ、食べたかったの！ 断面は綺麗な淡いピンク色。 衣の薄ベージュとのビジュアルも良き^_^ 衣はサクサク軽く、身はジューシーで厚いのに柔らか、力まず心地よく噛み切れる。 脂は甘く、揚げ物だけどしつこさがない。 ふと気付いたが、ソースの提供方法も変わってた。 以前は蓋付きの陶器ツボに入っていたが、昨今の新型コロナ対策なのかガラス瓶入りに。 通常のトンカツソースと超辛口の2種類。 超辛口は特別辛いわけではなく、通常モノより甘味が抑えてある感じで、こちらもさっぱりして美味。 普段揚げ物は敬遠しがちなんだけど、ここ数ヶ月豚カツ食べたいモードが止まらないので意を決し(←ひとりご飯苦手)、足を運んで正解！ ワインまでいただいて3000円弱、、、！これとってもコスパ良くないですか？ 有名店調べると定食だけで6000円超えとか見ると、ちょいと二の足踏んじゃう私w 蛇足だけどこの店の牡蠣フライも独特でめちゃウマ！ どーやってこの形にするんだろ、って不思議な技ありなので一度食す価値あり。 (これも2年前まで遡るので今も同じか不明ww) 夜も威勢の良い店員さんがいて、メニューも昼とは異なり楽しかった記憶。 かつ吉さんが混雑してる場合は近くの系列店菩提樹(店の佇まいもそっくり)さんでも同じメニューがいただけるので、そちらも要検討。 かつ吉さん、やっぱりお勧めのお店！

Some of the lightest fried food I've ever had. Tried both the pork cutlet and the shrimp "cutlet", along with some pickles. The sets came with a light salad, kimchi and other small snacks. A nice woman kept checking in on us and giving us tips; letting us know which sauce was which since we probably looked a bit clueless. Overall a great experience.

It’s a Katsu (pork cutlet) restaurant nearby the Suidobashi station. Its doing business for 70years and the famous Japanese novelists also arrived. The main menu is pricy they has a cheaper lunch menu. The Katsu was crispy and fresh but it was a bit too fatty for me. I like that the rice and soup were free for refill.
