The original shop is a tad hard to find. If you don't like small adventures, just go to the other branch in Ogawamachi. We did not know about the second branch and only came across it by accident while walking around in the neighborhood after our meal, so hey you learn something new everyday! Now to my review. After solving the riddle and finding the restaurant we were seated directly. There were some people inside but fortunately there was no queue. We ordered the meat (which was recommended on the menu) and the vegetable curry. We tried to order the potato on the side but the waitress kindly told us that it wasn't necessary because it comes as part of the set meal. On to the flavor. By no means do I consider myself a curry connoisseur(the only curry that I've frequently had and quite enjoyed actually was CoCo Ichibaniya) but believe me when I tell you THIS WAS ON A WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL/DIMENSION. Sure CoCo is tasty but this shop's curry is otherwordly. We came based on Mike Chen's review and man was it accurate. On a side note a 1500 yen dish for a relatively small serving is by no means cheap, but the potato sweetens the deal and helps you get full. Even if you end up sticking to cheaper Curry chains just try this place at least once for reference. Highly recommended

This is one of the most famous curry institutions in Tokyo. Using French culinary methods to derive its famous spiced curry, Bondy has won numerous awards and recognitions nation-wide in Japan. Please be warned that no matter when you come, there will always be long lines waiting to enter into the restaurant. The entrance is hidden in a back alley and may be difficult to find. However if you are lucky enough to enter, you will be able to enjoy a Bondy curry experience. We have arrived around 2:30pm on a Sunday afternoon, intentionally arriving at a time after the lunch rush hour peak. We still water for almost an hour until entering into a restaurant. However, the order is made while waiting in line so that when you are seated, the food comes out almost instantly. Next time I would like to have a Bondy curry, I would visit its sister stores. Regardless of the wait, Bondy’s curry is worth the wait.

⭐️Cash only Beef Curry ビーフカレー(辛口) ¥1600 --- I ordered the spicy beef curry, but it had an unexpectedly strong sweet taste. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I didn’t find the curry to be as amazing as I had hoped. The two potatoes served before the meal were nice, but they could have used a bit more butter. I preferred the chicken curry that my friend ordered. The chicken seemed to be grilled before being added to the curry, which gave it a pleasant smoky flavor. On a weekday evening, I waited about 20 minutes. I don’t think it’s worth the long wait to eat here. I also tried the pudding because of the recommendations, but I was disappointed that the caramel sauce was too bitter. Next time, I would like to try a different type of curry with a mild spice level.

This is a secret little restaurant that serves one of the best curry with rice in Tokyo, if not all of Japan. But as with all secrets, a ton of locals know this place and a long queue starts when it opens in the morning. The wait is worth it for those that like or love curry. We got the standard beef dish with curry, medium spicy, and added cheese as an add on. This comes with a boiled potato with butter. There are side pickled vegetables on the table for one to sample. Overall, the curry was tasty, with a hint of spiciness, and the cheese added additional flavors. Oh, don't forget the potato with butter. That was good as well, on its own, without the need of curry sauce.

Very popular curry place in the middle of an office building in a small street in Jinbocho. You will find it immediately once you see the line coming out of the building. I came in around 11:30 on a weekday and went inside 30 minutes later. The people organizing the line have very clear the waiting times and they may tell you how long would you have to wait. The good thing is that once you are inside you had already ordered so it comes instantly. Foodwise, it was great, the Japanese-style “European Curry” that is between sweet and spicy. They also include a baked potato, which goes great with the curry. Sizes are already big, so I wouldn’t recommend to increase the rice portion.
