After spending three months in Japan I can honestly say that the Sushi at Kisushi is not only the best Sushi I had during my entire stay but also the best food overall - and there are a lot of strong contenders. The quality and freshness of the ingredients, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the skill of the chef all come together to create a unique dining experience you won't forget any time soon. To top it off, the value you get for your money is outstanding. I've been to places a lot more expensive and none of them served better Sushi. Do take note though that this is not a cheap restaurant, depending on what and how much you eat you can expect to shell out 5000yen or more, while a smaller dinner for 2000yen is also possible. The chef speaks excellent English and cares about serving what you like, so feel free to ask beforehand. Whatever you end up ordering though, you'll definitely get your money's worth! While I could go on and on, there's one last recommendation I wanna leave you with: Try the house sake. One of the best I had in Japan!

a really local spot close to Todai. we ordered the Omakase set and just let the chef serve us his recommendations after. We were seated close to regulars and asked for the dishes that were served to them too. The nihonshu choices were impeccable, the fish so beautifully fresh and delicate. i had an amazing evening here. the anago changed my life - never had anago melt in my mouth that way before. Also tried the negitoro maki - I’ve had negitoro multiple times in my 5 years living in Japan but NEVER have I had one so fresh, creamy, and bursting with flavour. service was great and would recommend. Not cheap, but you’ll have a great time.

This is shinise, a renowned Omakase restaurant right at the gate of Tokyo University. The boss now is the second( probably third) generation, succeeding the counter from the late owner 4 years ago I’ve been here for over 10 years, and all the guests treated there have a good impression Food is still good. But the boss said he might be worrying for his two daughters won’t be succeeding his job Before that, it is really a place worth you to go

First, 2 stars because the tenchou can speak perfect English. I ordered Omakase Sushi which is the most expensive course on the menu. The taste was so-so. The miso soup was too salty, I couldn't finish it.

However, I saw the other customers at the counter got way fancier dishes. I asked the tenchou and found out that those were the course for the regular customers. I was so disappointed. how could I know that course exists if they didn't tell me in the first place?

I didn't mind to pay more, but I took it seriously if I didn't get the best I could get. You want me to visit the second time to order? Sorry, but I'd rather not...
