This pond is like an oasis in the heart of the university. And in fact is hard to get to as the entrance is very discrete. So if you are a tourist wandering the campus ground you might not even see it.
I was walking from the Akamon gate with the resolve to look for the pond and was dully rewarded after veering of the road to the side heading into what looks like heavy vegetation.
In fact the foliage is quite heavy and I can’t recall any other park within university grounds with such thick vegetation.
The Nayang garden in NTU in Singapore for example is quite thin and one can see across the whole garden with ease.
But this one looks like a jungle. And there were no people after me (although Japan is quite safe I don’t suggest single prepubescent girls venturing here on their own) as I enter.

It's situated within the University of Tokyo campus. It's a great place to relax and unwind after the visit to the Museum.
