If Willy Wonka had been into sushi instead of chocolate, it would look a lot like Kura Sushi. Plates glide by on conveyor belts like edible slot machines, each one a gamble you’re always happy to lose. We went heavy on shrimp: crispy fried heads, perfectly cooked tempura, straight-up nigiri, even a mayo-loaded avocado creation hiding under a mountain of onions. Every bite was fresh, fast & surprisingly affordable. The mackerel was a standout, rich & flavorful, while the specialty gunkan with tuna and egg felt like a flavor bomb in seaweed wrapping. Service is basically automated efficiency: tap your order, watch your dish arrive on a dedicated track, and then send plates off down the chute like you’re launching them into orbit. Bonus points for the gachapon-style lottery game...because nothing says “I’ve eaten too much sushi” like winning a tiny prize for your efforts. The Akabane branch feels lively but not overwhelming, with plenty of families, couples & lone diners happily feeding the sushi train. Verdict: Fun, tasty & budget-friendly. A perfect stop if you want conveyor-belt sushi that doesn’t feel like a gimmick...it feels like dinner with a side of entertainment.

We had eaten in 4 or 5 conveyor belt sushi shops in Japan during this trip. This one ranked lowest. We ordered a piece of "big toro" sushi and it was pathetic in both taste and size. We cut short our dinner and left for another sushi...
