Worst Hotel Experience in Japan – Disgusting and Terrible Service!

I have been to Japan more than ten times and stayed in many hotels there, but I can't believe such a terrible hotel exists in Japan.

Arrival: I arrived at 10 p.m. and had pre-booked a parking spot. However, no one told us where to park or which parking lot to use. Once we finally arrived at the check-in counter, there was no welcoming staff, and it felt like they were only interested in serving Japanese customers. The check-in process was chaotic, and to make matters worse, no one could speak English.

Room: Japan is known for its cleanliness, and I’ve stayed in many small hotels that were spotless. But this hotel room was filthy. There were fingernail clippings beside the bed, and the blanket had a large red stain on it. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Am I mistaken? RED COLOR still on the blanket? I immediately went downstairs to ask the staff to change the blanket for me.

Service: When I explained the situation to the male staff at the front desk, he didn’t greet me or smile. He couldn’t speak English and looked visibly annoyed. He then called over a female staff member. She didn’t even address us right away and walked away from the desk. When I told her about the stained blanket, she told me it wasn’t dirty, just a “stain.” WHAT? I didn’t know that hotels in Japan provide sleeping blankets with stains on them and think it’s normal. I asked if they could give me a new blanket, and she told me they didn’t have any new ones—just brown blankets. I asked, “But there’s dirt on the blanket, how can I sleep with that?” Can you believe what she said? She replied, “It’s JUST A STAIN, it WON’T KILL YOU.”

At this point, I was too tired to argue anymore since it was so late. I requested a white bed sheet, and after some time, they brought it to my room.

Personal Impact: I was traveling with my elderly parents, and I was so sad and upset that I could only give them such a terrible travel experience. This hotel completely ruined the mood of our entire trip, and I can’t believe this is the kind of service we received in Japan, a country known for its hospitality and high standards.

I stayed there for two nights, from October 29th to October 31st, 2024. The issue occurred around 11 p.m. to midnight on October 29th, 2024.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. The cleanliness was unacceptable, and the service was worse. The staff’s attitude was rude and unhelpful, and they didn’t seem to care about guest comfort or hygiene. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place if you’re planning to visit Japan. There are plenty of much better...

Some Super Hotels can be hit or miss, but this one was definitely a pleasant stay. The location is excellent, only about a 7-minute walk to the train station, with a Family Mart right in front and a pharmacy nearby. The area felt very safe and convenient for getting around. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and offered thoughtful amenities, including free toiletries like face wash, shampoo, cotton swabs, and hair ties, which made the stay even more convenient. The breakfast was delicious and filling, with foods like eggs, fish, miso, natto, and rice. That said, the menu was the same each morning, so after five days it felt a bit repetitive. For future guests, I recommend bringing your own pajamas, pillowcases, and towels, since the ones provided had a strong smell. I also noticed some stains on the sheets and shower curtain, so an update there would really improve the experience. Overall, this Super Hotel is a great value for the price, in a clean and safe area, with comfortable rooms and friendly service. With a few small improvements, it could easily go from good to excellent, and I would happily...

We loved this hotel Our room was super clean! The hotel was super clean! I requested a high room far from the elevator, and that is what I received! I was very pleased! It's true that japanese buisness hotel have very small rooms. We were expecting that, and we made it work! The breakfast in the morning was unbelievable!!! Thank you super hotel for having so many delicious and healthy choices for us! We especially loved your coffee!!! We liked how the front desk would give out treats if you brought down the unused toothbrushes! Every day, new towels were left on our door. The first night we arrived, there were no pillows left in the lobby. The pillows on the bed were not comfortable. I had to use a hoodie. There were more pillows the next day. I would suggest to the hotel to have more pillows available in the lobby. I have tattoos, so we did not use the public bath. It seemed very popular, though, with many people getting on and off the elevator on that floor. Akabane was a very interesting area, and we would probably stay in Akabane again and stay...

It was the biggest hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Tokyo! My friend and I were SO satisfied with this hotel, and I’m definitely going to stay here again if I have the chance to visit Tokyo! The only downside was that the bathroom was really small, but other than that, I loved it! The bed was big and clean, and the hotel was really close to the station. Plus, there was a convenience store and Don Quijote nearby! I highly recommend this hotel. However, as soon as we arrived at the lobby, the male staff member at the front desk greeted us with such an indifferent attitude that we wondered if we had come to the wrong place. That’s how unfriendly he was. We were really satisfied with everything else, but starting off by meeting him didn’t leave us with a good impression. Thankfully, the other staff members were very kind, which was a relief! He didn’t seem very young, was wearing glasses, and honestly wasn’t very welcoming. After checking in with him, I remembered reading a review about an unfriendly male front desk staff member—and now I know exactly what they meant.
