When “the customer is king”… but only if the king follows the rules.
Wanted pineapple on my burger. At a Hawaiian restaurant. Where pineapple is literally everywhere on the menu.
Simple, right?
Wrong.
After a manager-level summit, I was informed - with maximum politeness - that this was “not possible.”
The alternative offered? • Order pineapple separately from the dessert menu. • Request a tabletop grill. • Grill the pineapple myself like a caveman. • Chase pieces of hot pineapple across the table as they kept falling off. • Rebuild my own burger with DIY toppings.
Meanwhile, my kid’s spaghetti rolled out already crowned with a perfect slice of pineapple.
Apparently, moving pineapple six inches in the kitchen is impossible - but creating a full-on DIY hibachi experience at the table is fine.

Read moreIf you’re going for pancakes, I recommend skipping this place. Go to Eggs n Things instead. At ENT the pancakes are better, portions are much larger, coffee is better and the price is basically the same. La Ohana was better right when it opened. They used to let us request scrambled eggs for our kids, and now they only serve them sunny side up, which is ridiculous. There is no pancakes set for kids which is also crazy. The coffee is only ok if you get the more expensive kona blend but it’s over priced and honestly disappointing sone the normal coffee with a drink set is not good. I highly recommend Eggs n Things instead as it’s a much more authentic Hawaiian dining experience and you leave feeling full and happy. Even if the overall price is just a bit higher it’s...
