Life — Restaurant in Tokyo

This is a nice Italian restaurant but a Japanese version, it's not like European trattorias. The place is cozy and pleasant, the food is ok but the portions of the dishes are small, at least for European standards. I give it three stars because of the hidden charges: they force you to order at least one drink per person so you can't just drink water. Moreover they charge 200Y seat fee per person which they don't tell you when you order.

Fantastic Tuscan - a cozy and unpolished interior with great food and wine! We sat on comfy seats at a small bar looking into the kitchen. My Patê and pasta (lamb ragu) we’re spot on, as was the ‘steamed custard pudding’ (think excellent crème caramel rather than boiled pudding covered in the yellow stuff). For 1,000 yen, lunch here is tasty but pretty skimpy on portions. Expect a pasta option, a rice option, a curry option and a gratin option. The staff is generally OK but everytime I've been there no one has gone out of their way to be helpful or friendly. Dinner can get expensive especially if you order wine.
