I understand the room being cramped, the location is amazing. It's close to all the major points in shibuya, and for its price is great. Some employees spoke a bit of English, though Google translate and survival Japanese will help a lot.
The room, though. There is no privacy. On the 5th floor the building next door looks right in and the bathroom is separated by glass to the main room. So if you're there with someone you're not particularly intimate with, then that's definitely something you want to keep in mind. The futon was alright. I have never slept on one before, so I cannot comment on it comfort wise though I did wake up several times to readjust.
They allowed me to check in about 50 minutes early, so that was nice. And they have a great coffee machine on the first floor. Most of the amenities are on the ground floor where you can take them to your room and to get room service you apparently need to put a magnet on the exterior door of the room. I do not recall seeing one, so my room was left unclean my entire stay and I reused the same towels.
Overall, this is a well placed hotel with some amenities but don't expect a luxurious place. Use it for a base of operations while you're in Tokyo, it's relatively close to shibuya station and will be worth while if you're going to be out...
Read moreThe OneFive Shibuya is a simple, no frills place. The staff greeted me well at check in. They have a machine for check-in that they walk you through (there is a extra city fee to pay). Additional amenities like slippers, robes, soap extra can be taken from the lobby desk. The room itself is pretty small/narrow but its fine for one person. Be warned, the bed/futon is hard! There is really no give. That said, I thought I'd have a hard time but I slept pretty well. Either it was pretty great for sleeping or I was dead tired from being out all day. The best part is the location is fantastic. Close to Shibuya station, Yoyogi Park, Meiji Shrine...you can even walk to Harajuku if you're a walker. Also the shower water pressure was great. I have no major complaints since this was really for sleep for me. Maybe noting there is no real counter space in the bathroom (1 small glass shelf under the mirror). If you have dreams of something more upscale, amenities galore, a bed you can sink into...this is not the...
Read moreFrom other reviews I was hesitant to book due to poor temperature and hygiene reviews. However, we stayed for five nights recently and did not experience the hot room or dirty (causing itchiness) bedsheets. We booked a 2 beds room for a small family of 4 (2 kids under 7). At first we were underwhelmed with the size of the room; however, we realized it's the normal size for hotel rooms in the Shibuya area and we eventually got used to the size. It was not a big factor because we were out most of the time. I would like to note that the area is for the younger crowd, so we won't be looking for a place in the Shibuya next time if we bring our kids. The temperature was set to a minimum of 23C for July summer heat, not chilly but bearable for a good night sleep. The sheets were cleaned and changed daily. The receptionists were helpful and professional. Across from the hotel is a convenient store and 2 minutes walk from a really good yakitori restaurant. Roughly 10-15 minutes walk from the Shibuya cross...
