I found this cafe after reading a few reviews online about places to explore in Koenji. I got a bit lost because of the narrow streets but the smell of coffee along the street brought me to my destination. The menu is rather large, and I appreciate that there is both Japanese and English so that we can check our reading comprehension 😅.
Ordered the espresso tonic and I must say this is the first ever cafe where I've been offered an extra shot of espresso because for those of us who drink espresso tonics, we all know what an unpleasant experience it is to have watered down tonic and coffee at the end of the cup. I'd give the owner/barista 6 stars for this - for having the insight to offer his customers a pleasant experience to the last drop. Because the espresso tonic was so pleasant, I went ahead and ordered a cascara mojito and I'll say that the beverage was also above and beyond my expectations. I generally stay away from cascara because 1. it makes me dizzy and 2. the cascara teas I've had before range from colored water to colored sour water. This beverage was excellent - well balanced and smooth on the palate. There was a slightly bitter/tannic taste but it married well with the sugar from the cascara syrup.
