Overall we loved our experience here. We stayed in the bar and enjoyed some delicious drinks with some food. My boyfriend ordered the wagu and I mostly ate finger food. There were not many vegetarian options but staff was very accommodating from the food side and was happy to help me find more options if I wanted them. The only disappointment is where we were seated. Upon making our reservation at the bar I had said I would love if we could have a view of Tokyo Tower. It was a special occasion for us and I would have really loved that view. I was told only the Italian restaurant could see the tower and would we like to book there instead. I said no and it was ok we would just see the skyline in the bar. We were there on the earlier side of the evening and only one other couple ended up joining us in the bar the entire time we were there. There was a set of seats with an incredible view of Tokyo Tower in the bar that stayed empty the entire time we were there… it was really disappointing we were not seated there when I had specifically requested that view and it would have been perfect all evening. The staff tried to tell us it was because that area had more seating than two people but again no large group ever came that sat in those seats so it didn’t make sense to me why we couldn’t. It would have made our experience a true 5 star. It felt like one of those “Japan rules” moments where staff chose to follow the rules over improving a guest experience when it would have hurt absolutely no one in the process or taken away anything from anyone else. Picture is us at the Tokyo tower view where we took pictures for 2 minutes but would have been much nicer to enjoy the whole time we were there… I hope they will consider offering this to someone when they ask for a Tokyo tower view at the...
Read moreXEX ATAGO is actually 2 restaurant concepts under one name - Salvatore Cuomo Bros (Italian) and tempura & sushi An (Japanese) -
We ate at the Japanese side.
Absolutely a must try experience!
Atmosphere - because it’s situated at the top of one of the tallest buildings in the area, we got a really nice view of the city. We were lucky to get a peak of Mt. Fuji on our side.
Food - absolutely refined and great quality. We tried a bit of everything and we were not disappointed by ANY of them and that’s saying a lot!
Service - impeccable Japanese hospitality. Hands down this resto shows why the Japanese ARE the world standard when it comes to service. When we came in 3 people immediately attended to our needs, offering to take our coats and shoes for safekeeping. When we asked for recommendations for the best sake to pair with our food, the server/manager gave us a crash course and free tasting of their finest sake. He even did a mini matcha tea ceremony for us at the end. It was the best dining experience I’ve had in a while.
Would try again in a heart beat - maybe this time during sunset/dinner time so could get a good view of the Tokyo Tower as...
Read moreI booked a dinner at Salvatore Cuomo Bros. to cap a 24-day visit to Japan. My guests and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. First off, the restaurant fulfilled my reservation request for a table for three near a window, by placing a larger table directly against a window, to accommodate us. This was a nice gesture of thoughtfulness. The atmosphere/ambiance of the restaurant is quite nice, boasting spectacular night views of Tokyo and the Tokyo Tower. Candlelight and muted lighting lend an almost jazz club-feel, and, we appreciated the excellent pianist and singer who were singing jazz standards. The food was excellent, with special praise deserved for the pastas. The wine list is extensive, and, I appreciate that the restaurant offers many bottles by the glass, including rose champagne at a reasonable price, allowing me to indulge in a couple of glasses of a quality brand that sells for more than $200 per bottle. Service was attentive. This dinner was a wonderful and memorable way to end a magical...
