The place organized an open bar with wine producers from the world who came and brought their OWN opened bottles. I came there a little late so I didn't try many wines (Drank almost anything, not even more than a glass in total). Everyone was there to share their wines and meet each other, everyone except the owner. While he was pouring wine to people I showed my glass as I wanted to try It, he watched me and said: "naaah, this Is our wine, It wasn't brought by a producer" and didn't gave me a tear of It. I was ok with It as I knew I came there just to try producer's wines, as I am a producer too and I was invited from them, but at the end of the event he required me to pay for 3 people 4000¥ each (someone left earlier without knowing they had to pay). Read moreThis is the best bar I had the privilege of visiting in Japan, bar none. We stayed in Hatagaya by chance, wanting to save some money by going a bit off-center, and we found a lovely, quiet but cool neighborhood - with this bar as it's beating heart. Kenny is an amazing and interesting man and the atmosphere in the bar is its strongest suit (and that is to take nothing away from the amazing original cocktails he makes), if you go, make sure to ask who designed the place to make it so. And on top of all that, it was also the cheapest bar we've been to, that also does breakfast burritos in the mornings?! Absolutely...
Read moreThis place feels like home. I love spending a Sunday afternoon here. Sanita is owned by Kenny, a Brooklyn-born Italian-American who named the bar after his late Neapolitan grandmother. Sanita specializes in classic American cocktails (some with a Japanese twist), natural wines, and mezcal. Everytime you visit Sanita, Kenny will delight you with his knowledge of wine and booze. On a nice day, you can find him chatting up with patrons at the bar's window counter telling you the story of the latest bottle he's acquired as he pours...
