After reading several positive reviews, we—a group of two vegetarians who recently moved to Tokyo—decided to visit this restaurant. However, a few aspects of our experience were quite surprising:
Limited Vegetarian Options: Having tried many Indian and Nepali restaurants in Tokyo, we were disappointed to find that this place offers only one vegetarian curry—mixed vegetables—regardless of whether you order à la carte or a set meal. The curry itself didn’t feel authentically Indian, as it included ingredients like zucchini, brinjal, and okra in a gravy that didn’t resemble traditional Indian flavors.
Unexpected Drink Policy: After placing our order (one à la carte and one set meal), the staff returned about five minutes later to inform us of a newly implemented rule requiring each customer to order a drink with their meal. This was unexpected and made us reconsider, especially since the drink prices seemed relatively high and the options were limited. Despite our repeated requests to opt out, they insisted this would be the last time they’d serve food without a drink.
Billing Transparency: After finishing our meal, we were surprised to find that the restaurant did not provide a proper itemized bill. Instead, they simply wrote the total amount on a piece of paper and handed it to us, which felt quite unprofessional and lacked transparency.
Won't recommend for vegetarians, there are few more good...
Read moreAlways a huge line every day at lunch and now I know why. Waited for an hour but ended up enjoying one of the tastiest Indian meals I've had in Japan. Had the 3-type curry lunch set (that was all the curries on the menu) with naan & mini rice, served with some cabbage achar (pickle) and a spicy condiment on the side. Fantastic. You can taste the freshness of the spices in each curry... definitely ground by hand. The Kerala veg curry was probably the most delicious veg curry I've ever had. Ordered some seekh kabobs on the side which were also superb. One big downside, however, is the wait. We arrived just before 12:00 noon and the place was already completely full with a queue of 9 ppl ahead of us spilling out onto the street. The waiter said if you arrive around 2:00 you might get in quicker but last order for lunch is 2:30. He also recommended calling ahead for dinner if you want to avoid a long wait. Anyway, top quality stuff hence the...
Read moreThis is one of the top Indian restaurants in Tokyo, and it truly stands out. I follow them on Instagram, and from what I gather, the owner visits India every year. These trips are not just for inspiration; he learns from local chefs and brings back authentic recipes. The result is a menu that showcases some of the most genuine Indian dishes from various regions of the country. The flavors are bold and authentic, with some dishes being delightfully spicy, just as they should be.
I’ve had most of the curries available for lunch , and every single one was lip-smackingly good. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Indian dining experience in Tokyo. It’s a culinary journey that you won’t...
