I've been here three times and while I don't like giving mediocre reviews, it's my honest take. I seem to be slightly more disappointed each time I come.
The food itself, flavours are decent, though not strong. I like that the ingredients are fresh. Portions are small for the bahn mi (if you go to a Viet place and get cheap bahn mi it's quite large for the price) but everything else was reasonable for the price.
The service is not bad but lacks warmth. The atmosphere is indeed cosy and nice. I was also told of a 3,000 JPY per person to order after we placed our order. I don't mind, as many places as Otoshi and drink minimums, but it would be nice to know before you order so you can do it efficiently. We ended up having to order something quick as not to be meiwaku but also, got too much food than we wanted as we just each wanted a curry dish, which was a meal in itself, instead got 3 additional dishes to make up the cost. If I had known this was the case I don't think I would have come for dinner, because it made me feel uncomfortable both physically and with the restaurant experience.
Overall, I won't be coming back here again as the price, food quality, service don't really match expectations of similarly priced...
Read moreI have a pretty mix feelings about this place so I’ll give it 3 stars. If you’ve ever had a proper banh mi and pho from Hanoi, California, or Australia, you’d know that this place would be a negative star. However, if I put that kind of expectations aside I found their banh mi quite unique and delicious.
The bread they use is nothing like the baguette real banh mi shops would use but turned out okay. And there are 2 types. The ingredients seem fresh as well. The portions are very small which is disappointing for the price.
The beef pho tasted nothing like a real pho 👎🏽. It shouldn’t be called pho at all as it can be misleading. If it wasn’t called pho then I think it would be alright.
Still recommend to try, but try to see it more as a fusion to get a...
Read moreNot the banh mi I was expecting, but a tasty sandwich nonetheless. The bread is high quality and chewy and you can pick from 2 different kinds. This store also has a variety of unique, fanciful arrangements of the classic banh mi which makes me feel the price is justified; however I found myself asking, is this still a banh mi? Felt more like a sandwich with Japanese flavor inspired by the banh mi, but maybe I’m spoiled by simpler $5 banh mi from back in California. Either way, the taste was pretty good and I’d come back again with a different...
