A small little shop with 11 seats, and gets cleared in waves. Reached the shop a few minutes before it officially opens and there was a queue and the first seating had already started. Took me slightly more than an hour till it reached me.
The staff are friendly and helpful, they do have basic command of English so shouldn't be difficult to communicate.
There are only 2 types of order: the set lunch at 1800¥ and the tendon ?¥. The tendon comes with less ingredients but honestly the set meal might be too filling. I was struggling to finish the meal by the time the last 2 items were served, and I was starving before we started.
So the set lunch consists of egg, prawn, squid, white fish, eggplant, Bell pepper, brocolli and shrimp. The meal came with rice, soup, a cup of green tea and seasoned cabbage.
I didn't order the tendon no am not sure exactly what it had but when they were assembling, it definitely hadn't as much items as the set meal.
If you like any items, feel free to reorder.
The shop smells oily from outside, but once in, it's not as obvious and you don't leave the restaurant with smelly...
Read moreThe paper in front of the store said that it opens from 12 pm to 3pm during weekdays, however there were already customers in the restaurant when we arrived around 11.40 am on Friday. There were 4 persons queuing before us and we waited for 20 minutes. The only english menu is tendon and egg lunch set (and it’s the most recommended menu of the chef I think), so we ordered one each. The topping is similar, shrimp, small shrimps, bell pepper, eggplant, egg, squid, fish, and broccoli. The difference is that for egg lunch, it is firstly served with rice topped with egg tempura first and the rest will be served one by one while tendon is served at once. Egg tempura is what impressed me the most as it is more like sunny side up egg with tempura crumbs while the other stores make it with soft boiled egg. Overall the taste is nice, however it is also oily that I would not go often. Apart from that, staffs are very nice (they are father and son operating the business). The chef has short entertaining show during his cooking and he is really nice to foreigners. Recommended...
Read moreI did not know tempura can be so good. Fluffy and crispy on the outside and not overly cooked on the inside, doused in a perfectly balanced sweet sweet sauce. This place is amazing! We came at 5.30pm before it opened at 6pm on a weekday and we were the first in line. The restaurant is a tiny 12 bar seater where you can see the chef working his magic. This chef is particularly humorous, putting on a show for us cracking eggs. We ordered the popular egg set which has rice, miso soup, pickles, fried egg and 7 pieces of tempura (prawn, squid, capsicum, pumpkin, eggplant, white fish and prawn cake). All this for just ¥1800 per person! I saw them make other plates, there was one where they put avocado and urchin in that sushi seaweed, then coated it in batter and deep fried. I got good envy immediately. Too bad I was too full top order that as an add on. I highly recommend this place, they speak good...
