I was looking for a tsukemen spot in Tokyo and found this one near my hotel, it was absolutely delicious! You order at the vending machine near the entrance, which gives you a ticket. Then, you hand it to the staff when you’re seated.
I sat at the counter and could watch everything happening in the kitchen. Such a cool experience!
I had menu number 2: a bowl of noodles with a sheet of nori, and dipping broth with pork, egg, and bamboo shoots. I didn’t want something too heavy (menu number 1 comes with two slices of pork and two sheets of nori I think), and I was really full by the end.
The noodles are served cold and are thick and perfectly cooked (I think they were katamen, meaning slightly firm). A small wedge of lemon is served on the side you can squeeze a bit over the noodles before dipping, and it adds a refreshing brightness that works so well with the rich broth. And don’t forget to slurp… if you can! (I still need to master that 😆).
Also, the chef and staff were kind. Highly recommended if you’re into tsukemen or want to try it for...
Read moreHad lunch here. It was a one block walk from the toyosu station, which is one stop away from teamlabs planet. They serve tsukemen style ramen, which is ramen dipped in a rich broth. It's only counter sitting. You pay and place your order on the machine outside the store and then sit on a bench outside to wait your turn. The ramen is delicious. The noodles were springy and the broth delicious with a good portion of pork and an egg, with 2 pieces of Nori. A good meal for around 1300 yen. The service was fast and you can see the 2 chefs prepare the noodles. This appears to be a chain. Popular with the locals for lunch, we were the only gaijin there. Don't forget the bibs under the counter. You are going to need them when you slurp down...
Read moreDon’t get how anybody could complain about this place…solid ramen at a great price for the quality. 3 of ate for $40 and it was great. Not a lot of English spoken, but we managed with the English menu card and figured out the machine outside (cash goes in first…then order!). You can watch the guys behind the counter make your ramen to order and it’s clear they take pride in their food. It felt like a very authentic experience. The kid had the tsukamen style and he loved that as much as we loved our ramen. Great spot if you’re checking out TeamLabs Planets…only about 10m...
