Unfortunately, the service level at this restaurant is unacceptable. The wine we ordered was not corked but off, as we knew the wine well. When asked to change the bottle the non-Japanese waiter said that we would have to pay for another bottle. When we said we think they should take a bottle with an issue back he raised his voice. After insisting he said he would ask the manager. The manager then came over and tasted the wine. He said he thinks it’s fine but we explained in detail, why we think it’s not. He agreed to change the bottle and sent the waiter over with a new bottle, which was fine. Then the waiter asked, if he could also taste the new wine. Being a bit perplexed we agreed. He walked away and later came back and said we were right, that it’s indeed different. In my opinion it's completely inappropriate to ask to taste a guest’s wine especially in this situation implying that there was no issue with the first bottle. The icing on the cake was later, when the same waiter was touching his groin multiple times (think Michael Jackson move) in the dining room towards other waiters. I shared this feedback with the manager. Although he came over to our table a couple of minutes after for a nice chat, he never apologized or attempted to provide any service recovery gesture. Mistakes happen, but what happens after makes all...
Read moreI am a big fan of the Wolfgang Steakhouse in Roppongi and go there a few times a year. I have also visited the Honolulu and Fukuoka restaurants. All of them have what you would expect from a high end steakhouse: attentive service, good steaks and wine, a nice ambience and overall experience. I was very excited to try the signature steakhouse in Aoyama for my birthday.
I was very disappointed.
Absolutely terrible service by our waiter who seemed bothered that we had asked to speak with the sommelier to order our wine, rather than him. The rest of the evening was ruined by a lack of attention by our waiter to serve us, pour the wine or even ask ONCE how our meal was. And he seemed to be singling us out as he was much more attentive to every other table around us which was even more disappointing.
At the end of the meal I spoke with the manager who didn’t seem to believe us and was quite defensive of the waiter. It made us feel like we had been lying or trying to cause a fuss. It also confirmed my suspicion that this restaurant is very poorly managed.
I’m not usually one to complain or even write bad reviews but this experience ruined my birthday dinner and also made me question about wanting to go to any of the Wolfgang steakhouses again...
Read moreWe went there for Lunch on a Saturday for my husband's birthday. We ordered the lunch menu with the aged T-Bone. Meat quality was not as good as expected, we didn't feel it was aged. Service was awful for several reasons: Too quick (plate picked up 2 seconds after I finished my soup, I counted). Bottled water was served to us instead of tap water (about 1600JPY for 1 liter) even if we ordered several glasses of alcohol. Check received after 1 hour, even if we spent 50,000JPY. Worst is they forgot the dessert (taste was awful) I ordered for my husband (but they charged us), I had to remind them so the surprise was ruined. They charged us the wrong amount so they had to correct it.
My advice would be to go to a Michelin star restaurant instead of going there. The price will be about the same, but service and food quality will be...
