After arriving in Haneda from the red-eye flight, spending 2 hours in immo, and finally arriving at the hotel, I had a looooonnnnnngggg wait ahead of me before I could check-in. So I decided to first find coffee (I did) and then explore Gotanda.

Walking waterways with canopy covered greenery, and lush pink verdant rhododendron, my spirits were soaring by the time I found myself in sight of Osaki New City.

After kōhī #2, I decided it was beer o’clock and ventured inside the mall to the wonderful Yebisu bar.

This place is a gem - it’s an ipad serve-yourself-auto-menu; So you set yourself up with your drink and food of choice and away you go.

I selected their Yebisu dark beer (large mug) to start. This thing was a monster. Gorgeous malt and roasted coffee notes, offset with creamy palate, this went down a dream. To enjoy with the beer I grabbed the katsu curry which was generously proportioned and made for a great lunch.

After eating, I was still thirsty so I decided to try their double haibōru. They have massive tap dispenser jugs of whiskey that remind me of the caramel ones you’d find in an icecream shop. Two presses on the tap and boom you’ve got your shots, followed by soda water and lemon, and let’s go!

The haibōru was good so I cheekily had a second before calling time on lunch, and booze.

Overall this was a great lunch-time spot, and I could see why it was busy, but that people don’t loiter here - it’s a get in enjoy yourself, and get out...

We ordered steak and fish and chips. The dish was almost smaller than a kid’s meal. The steak was nothing similar to what you may think of a steak!
