Trip to Japan mars 2024 Our Incredible Journey: Completing the Tokyo Marathon and Exploring Japan In March 2024, my husband and I had the incredible fortune of completing the Tokyo Marathon. For my husband, it was the crowning achievement of earning his Abbott World Marathon Majors 6th Star, while for me, it marked the exhilarating experience of running my very first marathon. Traveling from Iceland to Japan for the marathon, we seized the opportunity to explore and experience this fascinating country. Our travel agent, Trip to Japan, exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we contacted them, Bolli Thoroddsen and his team of expert planners and guides made us feel at ease and well-informed throughout our visit. Reliving Memories and Creating New Ones Forty years ago, as a young student, I had the chance to study in Tokyo for four months and travel around Japan. This trip was a nostalgic return, and I knew meticulous planning was essential to make the most of our nine days in Japan. Japan's stunning sites, rich culture, and deep history can't be fully covered in such a short time, but we were determined to experience as much as possible. Our journey within Japan was seamless, thanks to the incredible Shinkansen bullet trains - known for their accuracy, speed, and comfort. From travel arrangements to accommodations in comfortable hotels, every detail was executed flawlessly by Trip to Japan. Highlights: Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima As per suggestion from Bolli at Trip to Japan our main points of interest were Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. In Tokyo and Kyoto, we enjoyed full-day guided tours, which provided in-depth local insights and added charm to our experience. Thelma Heimisdóttir in Tokyo and GuưrĆŗn Helga Halldórsdóttir in Kyoto not only guided us through the ancient and modern aspects of Japan but also shared their personal experiences of living in these bustling cities. Their unique perspectives as long-time residents in Japan enriched our understanding and made our tours both fun and informative. To sum up our wonderful experience, I’ve included a selection of photos from our trip. These snapshots capture the essence of our incredible journey and the beautiful moments we shared. A heartfelt thank you to the team at Trip to Japan Bolli, Hildur, Thelma, and GuưrĆŗn Helga. Your attention to detail truly made our Japan tour extraordinary. We spent a month in Japan last year, and Trip to Japan made the whole experience so smooth and enjoyable. We were traveling as a family with our two girls, who were 3 and 7 at the time, and even though the agency hadn’t planned trips with kids before, they handled everything perfectly. Bolli was amazing throughout the process. He’s lived in Japan for many years, and his recommendations made a huge difference — he suggested places we would never have thought of ourselves, and they turned out to be some of our favorite moments of the trip. We started in Tokyo, then spent two weeks working in Fujiyoshida, and finished in Kyoto. From train tickets to accommodations to all the small details, everything was taken care of. All felt effortless on our end, and if anything came up, Bolli and his team were always just a phone call away and quick to help. Traveling with young kids can sometimes be stressful, but this time it never felt like that. The whole trip ran so smoothly, and we had such a rich experience thanks to Bolli’s local knowledge and support. We’re already planning to go back once our girls are a bit older — and we’ll most definitely ask for their help again. I can’t recommend Trip to Japan enough, especially if you want something personal and thoughtfully planned. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to see Japan.

I booked a yatabune with private lunch package. It was so amazing. Our group of 4 people got our own private delicious lunch set up on the yatabune cruise in arashiyama with our own private driver. Other boats were out but packed with people. The booking process was simple. I requested online but the real reservation is made via email communication back and forth to find an open date and time. Staff was professional, easy to book with. The boat driver was so fun and entertaining, taking lots of photos for us. Excellent experience, definitely book here!

I had a great experience planning my trip with the team. My husband and I were planning a trip to Japan in May 2025, but our trip got cancelled a month before May due to an emergency. The team has been so cooperative and understanding. We got our full refund without any hassle at all.

They provide a one stop solution from planning a perfect itinerary to accommodations, arrangement of JR passes and all the tickets to popular tourist spots. The itinerary was so detail oriented and precise. I was so glad to see the output, after all the suggestions I had provided during our interactions.

I appreciate how responsive and professional the team has been. A special shout out to Mia, Bolli and Hilda for all their efforts! You guys have been lovely to interact with :) I would highly recommend planning your trip through this platform and I look forward to planning my trip with them again...
