I love this ramen! I first tried it in Kurashiki years ago, and I knew I had to try at the original shop, finally I could! So, the soup: Shodoshima is famous for its soy sauce, so of course that is included (Yama-Roku soy sauce). The stock is made from a variety of local fish, such as dried iwashi, and locally produced veggies. Although being fish based, it’s pretty thick & creamy, but not too heavy. The noodles are good, the pork is delicious! What I really think makes this ramen great though, is the locally produced dried nori seaweed. It really adds something special to the ramen. I recommend getting extra! I ordered an extra serve of noodles (free!!!), and as you can see from the photograph, it comes topped with pork, green onions & seaweed... It’s a meal in its self! Sorry, I’ve written too much! I guess you can tell, I really like this ramen! (Next time I’ll try the spicy one!) A Japanese couple arrived ten minutes after us got their food ten minutes before us. We had only ten minutes to eat to catch the ferry back to Takamatsu. And when we pay the bill, the cashier, a guy, messed up our total five times. We had to pay 1000 yen more if I didn’t check once and once again. Ramen was very tasty too, it wasn’t too thick but good. If you are a big eater, this place fill feed you well with free “kaedama” extra noodles as much as you want.
