We had many meals (the whole gamut - from Japanese to Western) over the course of two weeks in Japan, but this has got to be the best meal experience we had, in terms of taste, value and service. We are no experts in French food but this ticked all the boxes for us on a cold rainy evening in Tsuruoka.
We had the fish course - the fish was done wonderfully, crisp on the outside and yet tender inside, and it was accompanied with a mildly sweet and satisfying sauce. We also ordered the hamburg separately, and it came in a sizeable juicy portion drenched in a glistening savoury demi-glace - it looked right out of an anime. I would also mention that the cream of corn was very tasty - delightfully thick and the sweetness of the corn came through quite nicely (I don’t even like corn but I enjoyed it tremendously).
Felt like a homely family establishment with lovely and attentive staff (despite our lack of ability to communicate in Japanese; Google translate got us by quite nicely).
