issou Coffee Roastery — Restaurant in Yakushima

This is 100% the most legit coffee on the island - proper barista style that made me feel right at home after coming from Melbourne. Be aware that if you come in with others, each person has to order a drink or you'll be told to sit in the ferry waiting area outside and won't get to enjoy the lovely ambience with the record player. It's a small space so try not to come in large groups.

The location is a bit confusing: if you've come by hydrofoil (TOPPY/ROCKET), you need to go to the regular ferry terminal further down the pier (Yakushima 2 Ferry). It is the only building with a second level. The cafe is on the second floor.

My only gripe is I wish it was open a little...

Connoisseur run coffee shop - 10-year in the running, passionate owner roasts his own coffee and offer a range for your taste. Rare find. Wifi. English speaking owner. Some snacks - toast, pound bread, candied peanuts from local or nearby islands. About 6 seats indoor, patio outside but beware of mosquitoes. Small trail next to it leads to 布引の滝. Public free parking and toilets right...

Cute little café, perfect to wait for your bus or boat. Just drinks, no food available.
