Stumbled into this wonderful place while enjoying a walk in Yamaguchi city.
Ordered an iced oat latte, which was very delicious. Naoki, the owner, is a knowledgeable and thoughtful barista, gentle, friendly and generous in sharing. He carefully selects, roasts and makes every drink. He shared that even for his oat milk, he tried all the products around and chose a Finland oat milk that is pure and naturally sweet with no additives, something that will go well with his coffee. What dedication.
Naoki also generously shared about other amazing cafes in yamaguchi, places to eat, to see art, to enjoy music, local pottery studio, temples etc. While running this charming cafe, he also became a doorway to yamaguchi.
It was so heartening to know, in a time when the Japanese countryside is aging and many places abandoned, people like Naoki choose to root themselves and bring a new regenerative energy and movement. Hopeful, and praying there there will more and more people like him.
We came back again the next day, and enjoyed a few more drinks and a new friendship. We decided to also offer some coffee beans from our farm in Malaysia, and Naoki generously made us a pour over to share, somehow bringing the best out of our amateur, young beans.
