Terrific breakfast cafe on main street of Shibu Onsen, they open at 6AM to serve skiers and other early birds in the area. English menu is available. The coffee is a superb blend created by the shop’s owner and is brewed a cup at a time with an AeroPress. This is one of the very few AeroPress cafes in Japan. The variety of items is impressive! I’ve already had the filling “YAMANOUCHI COFFEE Breakfast Plate” the multiple types of overnight oats, the sandwiches, the salad, the daily soup (it was squash potage yesterday), the Blueberry-Apple-Banana Smoothie, and the Massaman curry. Almost all of the menu items are locally grown, or produced locally. They also have very cute parkas with the well designed shop logo.

This coffee shop is a hidden gem—quiet, cozy, and the perfect spot to relax. The atmosphere is peaceful, making it a great place to enjoy a coffee and take in the moment. The highlight of my visit was the wonderful staff. The person working there was incredibly kind and helpful, going out of their way to ensure a great experience. They even spoke English, which made communication easy and added to the welcoming feel. The service was top-notch, making my time here even more enjoyable. It’s small moments like these that make traveling in Japan such a special experience.

Delicious, fabulous, friendly. Such high quality coffee with a range of milks (oat, soy, almond). Also great porridge pot They sell coffee beans too. There’s also always music in there playing that makes you feel like you’re in a studio ghibli. Great place for a relax and journal maybe if you like that sort of thing. The lady that works there is SO sweet and helpful she even booked me a cab because my phone wouldn’t work.

Our excitement turned to dismay over this café. It was far too expensive for the small portions. The matcha latte and coffee were very small but we did appreciate the selection of milks they offer. The granola less than plain even though the photo displayed it with fruit and peanut butter and the egg sandwich was more like half a sandwich, very small in a thin pita pocket and without much taste. What bothered us the most was a tip jar, which, from what we've learned is not only unwelcomed in Japanese culture but offensive. The server was lovely and kind with...
