The Royal — Restaurant in Yokohama

I recently dined at The Royal, a Nepali restaurant, and I must say, my experience was far from satisfactory. To start with, the ambiance was rather dull and uninviting. The lighting was too dim, and the decor felt outdated and neglected.

The service was equally disappointing. We waited an excessive amount of time just to get seated, even though the restaurant was not particularly busy. Once seated, it took another long while for a server to attend to us. When the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm at best, suggesting it had been sitting out for some time.

As for the food itself, it was a major letdown. The flavors were bland and lacked the authenticity I was expecting from a Nepali restaurant. The momo, which should be a highlight, was dry and tasteless. The curry dishes were overly greasy and the spices were not well-balanced. Portions were small considering the high prices, making the overall value for money quite poor.

Cleanliness was another issue. The table was sticky, and the cutlery did not seem properly cleaned. The restroom facilities were also below standard, adding to the overall negative experience.

Overall, The Royal failed to meet my expectations on multiple fronts. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a genuine and pleasant Nepali...

The atmosphere is good, the food is excellent (and the only reason why this place got two stars), but the service is what killed this. The servers are a little lack luster to walking you to the available table, they'll take your order quickly and get your food to you, and immediately have your bill on the table. We asked for a take out box because we had a good amount of food left, and the server said that he would get us one in a few minutes. We understood. But after ten minutes we asked another server and he rudely said no. For over $40 (¥4000) the food was maybe worth it, but the experience definitely not. Even had to ring to pay, which I placed the money and the bill was by the cash register. We could have walked out without paying, because it seems like the staff don't seem to really care, let alone maybe do their job. Again, food was excellent (worth $40, probably find better at that price point), atmosphere was decent, but the service level sucks. We'll never come back to this place and I hope others don't have the same poor experience as us, or this place will start losing...

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm, clean, and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing meal.
