Decent budget-friendly, business-style hotel adjacent to the Yokohama station.
For first timers arriving at the station, make your way to the West exit. You essentially need to walk through the CIAL shopping centre. You don't need to head outside to the street, just take the escalator up one floor at the West exit atrium, make your way north (turn left), and take another escalator up one more floor. You'll know you're on the right track when you find yourself in a semi open corridor that runs parallel to the train tracks. You'll eventually reach a set of stairs and escalator going down to another semi open walkway, with restaurants lined up on the left. Keep going straight and enter the CIAL Annex building. The entrance to the hotel will be opposite Schmatz Beer Dining. This is level 3, you don't need to hit the streets to navigate through, and it's mostly sheltered.
The room is modest, but has a floor to ceiling window for good natural lighting. Nice color palette. Soundproofing was good, heard nothing from the street up from the 6th floor. However, the walls are slightly thin and on my first night I could faintly hear the dude next door snoring. Overall not a very noticable, so it's still fine.
Bathroom ventilation is on auto/green mode - I couldn't tell if it was running during my stay. Toilet wasn't as thoroughly clean as I would expect, but generally still acceptable - plumbing might need to be investigated, it smelled slightly funky at times even after a round of cleaning.
Overall a comfortable stay and very very strategically located if you need to be close to Yokohama station, and particularly for short stays. Modern and close enough to lots of amenities. Just some bits on cleanliness/maintenance to be improved. I might try out their other property at Sakuragicho...
Read moreConvenient location and clean. Room size and bed is comfortable and big enough for one person. Staff aren’t too good with English but we found ways to communicate. There is no change machine, I mistakenly thought the machine by the vending machines was for change but it’s a ticketing machine to watch movies on your tv, the staff kindly assisted me and provided me with a refund and change. The washing machines are located on the 4F and will take cash and IC card, there’s only 2 so it’s very in demand but the availability and time left can be checked on the tv. The only English Channel they have is CNN news. Toilet paper is one ply which I think might be standard in Japan anyway. Water is provided everyday if your room is cleaned, if you don’t want the room cleaned the cleaning staff will kindly provide if you ask. Walls are slightly thin since I can hear doors slamming shut when I’m awake.
There is a family mart nearby and it’s small and doesn’t have ice cream so I would recommend going to the supermarket downstairs Bunkado instead, the selection is vast, it’s cheaper has conveni food as well and actually has ice cream.
The location was difficult to find, the instructions from the hotel website were not that helpful. There is a way from the north west exit if you can locate it. If you leave from the north west exit there is a lift and escalators to the immediate right of the exit which will take you to the walkway towards the hotel. Otherwise find the CIAL exit (this exit closes when the shops close) which is on the immediate right hand side of the ‘underground west exit’, the walkway is on the...
Read moreThe hotel is new and conveniently located on a skywalk that connects to New Woman Mall that connects to Yokohama station. See directions to the hotel below!||Standard room was small (Tokyo-sized), plain and bare, but new and clean. Had booked for 2 people but the room was only prepared for 1 person (1 towel, etc.) Bottled water is provided but housekeeping has to enter the room to replenish.||Staff were professional and always greeted you politely when you came and went. There's also complimentary tea in the lobby.||It was an average stay. The reason I didn't enjoy it more is because I've also stayed at a neighboring hotel for the same rate that was a lot nicer.||DIRECTIONS TO THE HOTEL|If you arrive at Yokohama Station by train:|—Get to West Exit and enter New Woman Mall.|—Go to 3F and locate Harbs (a cake shop), next to it there's an exit out onto the skywalk|—Exit and take a left, walk straight on the skywalk until you spot steps on the right-hand side to enter a building|—Go up the steps (there's also a ramp there, a bit hidden) and walk a little farther in to find sliding doors that'll lead you to the hotel||This is the easiest way to find the hotel for the first time. Once you know the route there's an outside path you can take as well on 3F, without having to cut through...
