This place is fairly new and was a great find for my accommodations in Japan. The rooms are minimalistic, and ultra modern. The toilet seat is more intelligent than you are and they offer complimentary bath bombs to color the tub water and reinvigorate your skin for that hot bath you deserve.
When I come to the Yokohama area again I will most definitely search for an opening here. I highly recommend it with it's great location near to Yokohama Station. Going through the west exit you just need to walk a block, walk across a road across the waterway and then you'll see signs for Royal Host or Family Mart which then makes the hotel easy to find.
The breakfast for this hotel is not actually within the hotel but they must have some partnership or deal with the Royal Host chain since it's semi- connected to the building after walking around the balcony outside on the second floor. The buffet is great and with lots of variety, left nothing missing for me personally. They have their own espresso machine which you can use along with juice machines, readily available hot water, and hot coffee to go, if needed.
The rooms are neat, with lots of minor nuances that really help to make it modern adn technologically superior to anything you'll find elsewhere outside of East Asia. If you're here for business, they've got a desk with outlets nearby along with a mini desk by the window in case you'd like to do work with a scenic city view. One thing extremely helpful in the room is the availability of a three-pronged outlet by the bedside. Hugely helpful for the be-all end-all solution to the North American traveler. The room comes with traveler charger converters as well and a USB outlet on the headboard of the bed. I think all rooms come with a recently popular service in Japan where you are able to borrow and use a phone for the duration of your stay. Of course you can't personalize it but it's very useful if you plan to tour around and need data access to look up things on the go. You can also call from it.
Lastly, the staff were all extremely friendly and polite. I didn't have any problems and they went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable, convenient, and relaxing. They were helpful for restaurant recommendations and there weren't any communication problems (obviously, I speak English, hence this review's language).
All in all a fantastic find. You'd be hard-pressed to getter bang for your buck (or maybe I should say yen/en) in the Yokohama station area. The staff, location, rooms, value were all terrific. It was a 5-star experience for what's marketed as a...
Read moreThe cleanest hotel I've ever seen. Even in the shower/tub room and toilet room (separated), there was ZERO dust to be found in the corners along the floor. |The tub was heaven after walking all day because it was spotless and very deep. I was able to soak up to my neck. Not like a shallow American tub.|The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were FULL SIZED bottles. Towels were thick. |Slippers and pajamas were provided. The bidet was in its own room with a door. Heated toilet seat and automatic flush. The buttons were self explanatory. You come out feeling cleaner than when you went in. |It took me 2 - 3 minutes to walk to the NE or West train station exits. and I'm not a fast walker. There are 2 convenience stores next door to the hotel, along with 2 excellent restaurants inside the hotel. The elevators are fast and quiet. Speaking of quiet, my room was so quiet it felt like I had the entire hotel to myself. Couldn't hear traffic or trains. Washers and dryers are on the 4th floor. Detergent is provided and automatically dispensed. Vending machines offer sodas, water, juices, and beer on the 9th floor. Air conditioner was powerful and cooled the room surprisingly fast. Water pressure in the shower and tub were strong. The staff is available 24 hours a day and extremely polite and helpful. Carpeting throughout the hotel looked new. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Wall plugs and USB charging are by the headboard. I felt 100% safe inside and outside at night (solo female traveler). If I am able to return to Yokohama, I will definitely stay at this Richmond Hotel Yokohama Ekimae ( there are other...
Read moreWe stayed here for 1 night because we didn't think we were going to make it onto the last shikansen train to Kyoto. We took the Narita Express to Yokohama thinking that we can pick up the shikansen to Kyoto the next morning but after research the shinkansen boarded at Shin Yokohama station which is another 15 min train ride from hotel.||It was a reasonable walking distance from Yokohama station to hotel. We exited the station in the wrong direction so it took longer than it should. Walking through the streets, the night life there seems very lively with various of restaurants and shops around the hotel. ||The hotel lobby is small and check in was done in person and check out is done by machine. Next to the check in desk, there is an amenities case where you can pick up amenities the hotel offers. It ranges from shavers, toothbrushes, face lotions extra. The biggest perk is the soaking bath salt! After a long flight, a soak in the bath is exactly what I neede so I was very appreciated to be able to pick up the bath salt.||The room is small, a little tight with luggage but managable. The sink is placed outside of the bathroom, in the room space. It was a bit awkward. In thinking of the price per night spent vs hotel quality - I would say it's average. You are really paying for the close proximity to train station. The structure of the hotel and furnishing in the room looked like it was kept up. Fairly new and did not look run down.||We wish we had more time to spend in Yokohama as it seems like a fun...
