This hotel is absolutely incredible. It's close to Yokohama Station, so after a long day, it's nice to be able to get off the train and only walk a few short minutes. It seemed like most of the employees spoke some English, so if you're worried about that, don't be! It was very easy to check in.
I booked a Deluxe Twin Room, which had two beds and one couch. The room was smaller than standard American hotel rooms, but it was bigger than most other Japanese hotels I've stayed in, which was awesome. Our room faced the highway, and it was very quiet aside from the occasional police or ambulance going by. The beds were comfortable. The toilet and bath were in separate rooms, which was nice. One person could bathe while the other person did their business.
Don't worry about packing toiletries! This place was fully stocked! In the bath rooms, there was shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. Near the elevators in the lobby, there were razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hairbrushes, hair gel, bath salts, face wash, and face lotion. You could take whatever you needed, whenever you needed. There are also hairdryers provided in the rooms.
I purchased the package where we had meal tickets to use in the cafe below, but I didn't find it to be a good value. There are only 3 meal options to choose from if you have a meal ticket, and while it was tasty, next time I would just save my money and go someplace else. For example, there is a 24/7 Family Mart connected to the hotel, and I ended up buying pastries/rice balls/drinks from there because it was more appetizing than having the same 3 meals every morning.
Overall, I had a great stay and would absolutely stay here again! I will be considering staying at more Sotetsu Fresa brand hotels...
Read moreStayed here for two weeks during my trip in the Kanto region.
The room was, unfortunately, way too small for a stay of that length. The size of the room was not highlighted by booking site which made it easy for someone to pick mistakenly. Additionally, the bed felt like it was made of bricks, the room's A/C unit had a constant drip of water coming out of the slat when in use, and the only space to put our luggage (under the bed) made it a test of patience whenever we had to do something as simple as putting away dirty clothes.
That being said, I didn't make an effort to voice my issues with the hotel staff since my Japanese is limited at best. Though they did not speak fluent English, they were always incredibly welcoming and helpful. There were a selection of items that you could rent during your stay at no cost additional cost (iron, steam press, blow dryer, etc.) The amenities also offered a room with 24 hr coin operated washer and dryers.
The best the hotel had to offer was the location itself. A five minute walk from Yokohama station, a Lawson and a Beck's Coffee both connected to the hotel lobby, another five minute walk to Yokohama Bay Quarter. Being so close to so many essential spots helped make the stay much more palatable. Along with this the cost was relatively unexpensive considering the location.
All and all, I would recommend Sotetsu Fresa Inn, but suggest making sure they know what room...
Read moreIt’s a very nice hotel with many plus points.
There are many good places that opens to late night , which include the well owned Ichiran, in the street to the west exit of Yokohama station, a short distance from the hotel. There are also many malls around for last minute shopping.
The family mart convenient store is connected to the hotel. A good place to get some quick breakfast and heat it up using the microwave on level 2. Otherwise the cafe that offers breakfast is also attached to the hotel.
If you’re one that likes your drinks cold, there’s an ice machine on level 2 too.
Coin laundry will be beneficial to those on long trips.
Tried the in room spa service- dry massage. The massage was good.
The hotel provides many amenities… apart from the usual they also have hair curler and curl dryers available on loan for free.
Regarding push factors, for sensitive sleepers, the train station is right next to the tracks so do expect some noise. However considering the amount of walking that led to fatigue, I’ve slept well on the quality Simmons bed with quality pillows.
I was slightly taken by surprise when I was charged for 1h later check out as I wasn’t informed when I asked for it. For that I must believe it’s due to the fact that the staff aren’t very good at English. So if you’re looking for some extra services, including late check outs, do ask and check the...
