CoCo Ichibanya — Restaurant in Yokosuka

So to start, this is the worse of the two CoCos in Yokosuka. This shop is always crowded, understaffed, loud, takes forever to get your food, and they have messed up my order 2 of the 3 times I've went recently.

If you want your Japanese curry experience to be in the equivalent of a truck stop gas station, go here. If not, go to the other CoCos.

Sidenote: Also when they messed up my curry, I asked for vegetarian curry with mild spice. They brought me back pork curry and when I asked they said "mild is only pork", they never told me before I ordered and gave me a Japanese receipt that my friend (luckily) could read. If it said anywhere on the menu, or someone who was taking my order would have said mild spice means pork curry, than I would have changed the damn spice, vegetarian means a lot more to me than a mild flavor.

The feeling I get from here is like a McDonalds in the states, nobody wants to work there, they are just doing the bare...

Like a lot of non-locals, I have a deep love for this chain. From Hokkaido to Honolulu, you always know what you're going to get at this restaurant. It is consistent, cheap, and yummy. As such, I typically would not leave a review because I look at this place very similarly to the way I look at McDonald's.

However, this particular outlet is special. I don't know how they are training the staff in this restaurant, but the service you receive is absurd. On our last visit, three of the staff met us at the door to say goodbye in unison. That is weird and lovely and left a mark....

I love CoCos...when it's fully cooked. I frequent this place, and most of the time it's absolutely amazing. Food is hot, spicy, perfect, but if you go on a day when they're busy and struggling to crank out plates....don't. On those days, you get undercooked, lukewarm food that will give you violent food poisoning 9/10, at least in my experience. I can forgive slow service, even mistakes on orders, but not when the food makes me so ill. Definitely give this place a try, you'll probably be hooked on it like the rest of us, but do yourself a favor and speak up if something...
