This is one of those restaurants that becomes a staple to the community around it.
The food: You know why you came here, you saw that huge tower of a burger on the pictures outside named after the president, you saw Bob Sap eating a massive delicious cheeseburger with sauce dripping out of the back. And it is every bit as delicious and greasy as you thought. The food is exactly what you want to fill you up, because the burgers are HUGE. The burgers are the main draw to this restaurant but all of the other food choices here excel as well, the sides are delicious, curry is a home style blend that sticks to your ribs, its all above good on the quality scale.
The atmosphere: This shop has surprisingly nice decorations and vibe to it, you feel like you can talk as loud as you want, laugh, drink, and fool around with friends after a few drinks. This place looks and feels comparable to the inside of a Joe's Crab Shack, so if that's not your cup of tea, might want to go somewhere a bit more proper. Inside you will find nicknacks on the walls, nice tables, good temperature, staff doesn't try to impress you or waste your time. Its a good shop, and if you go with friends, you are guaranteed to have a good time. I never see anyone in Tsunami with a mad look on their face.
The bad: Okay every popular restaurant has it's flaws, but first thing's first, the good FAR OUTWEIGHS the bad here. The first bad you will see is the price, you will end up paying around $20 for a burger here if you are going to go that route, the burger stack you see outside is around $50 so let that sink in if you're more of a frugal eater. The second is that the shop is old, it has character, but it seems a bit dingy at this point and it is due for a few renovations. Third and last is that the place is CROWDED all the time, you have to time your plans pretty well if you want to avoid a line outside, but that is the price of popularity I guess.
TL'DR: Food is awesome, atmosphere is great and heavily american, a bit pricey but understandable, don't come here if you're looking for fine dining. 4/5 Highly recommend....
Read moreThis restaurant earns four stars merely because of the wait-time, otherwise, it'd be five. This really has the American taste compared to 99% of the food in the area..
Their staff is friendly, though their English is spotty, depending on who you speak to, just be forewarned. Not a problem to me, but to some, it can cause problems. If you know even a fair bit of Japanese, understand their sentence structure, or can even point/grunt/and laugh, you can mosey your way through just fine! Menu's a little confusing the first time, but it's not too bad. Just refer to it as "M" and "L" rather than "Medium" and "Large".. and you're good.
Average wait time for me was about 20 minutes from the order, you have to be a bit proactive and slightly aggressive when it comes to getting the check, or you can sit there for a while.. though their burgers are worth the wait.
At nighttime, they do have fantastic drinks! That, in my experience, is regardless of who's bar-tending.. one of their restaurants does Taco Rice that's pretty good too, if you're craving that. It's the best in the area, though not quite like home. Have some sriracha or garlic powder and a pinch of salt ready to kick it that extra kick if you do order it.
Recommendation: Their Chili Burger and Vanilla Shake, for sure! DAMN well worth the wait! They do NOT hold back on the chili OR cheese and they make their shakes with what tastes like New York or French Vanilla. It's a MEAN combination, and you can expect the 'food coma' to hit full-blast within the hour if you're not planning to do anything for the rest of the day! It's a happy food coma mind you, so it's more dangerous to fight!
To-Go Service: Yes! They do, but it comes in a little box and some of their food is messy, so you have to be careful if you're...

-Staff is a bit rude.
First off the food is real good. Burger I got was amazing (although it wasn’t the same as the description which was strange). I also got the extra hot buffalo wings hoping they would be at US levels of spice... they weren’t. Standard Japanese spice level. Still, the wings were good and came with blue cheese.
The variety of burgers you can get is kinda crazy. Not just the number offered but the dramatic differences between them all. Be careful because they are super filling and you may end up with more than you chew.
Good selection of beer and drinks.
There is almost always a line of people waiting to get in so expect to wait a little while.
The waitress we had seemed super uninterested in helping us or feigning interested in the slightest amount. Maybe she was having a bad day or was tired of dealing with English speakers (even though we ordered in Japanese). It was a little off putting to try and order from someone who clearly wanted nothing...
