I walked into Moaimo during a lunch break from work. It’s very close to the Yokosuka base gate. They specialize in okinawa style noodles and “bakudan” (bomb) onigiri. I asked the owner if he can make the noodles quickly as I was on a lunch break and he said he could make them in 5min to dine in or to go. I also asked if he could make something with seafood since I am abstaining from meat on Fridays of lent (but that broth was ok) to which he was able to accommodate by swapping the pork topping with extra tuna and fish cake! This was really nice considering it is not typical for Japanese restaurants to accommodate alterations to their dishes.
With it being so quick I decided to sit at the bar and sure enough he had a delicious, light, bonito/pork ramen-like noodle soup with seafood toppings made in 5min while he chatted with me. I also ordered one of the salmon bakudan onigiri which tasted really nice with the leftover broth after I finished the noodles. In total for the noodles and onigiri (which was pretty big) it was about ¥1500 (cash only place btw). His English is good and he was also very generous about allowing me to practice what little Japanese phrases I knew and taught me some more words to add to my vocabulary. His wife came by and said hello as well after picking up ingredients from the store. The two were such a delight to share a brief lunch with and it really made me feel connected to the Yokosuka community as a US military service member visiting this nice town. I will definitely tell my colleagues on base about this place if they want to try some...

Easily the best bar and restaurant in Yokosuka, especially if you want to talk and enjoy a super welcoming environment. I have learned a lot of Japanese because the locals love and encourage us trying to learn, but the workers know enough English, even if you don't want to translate, to get you drinks and food...

Food took about 15 minutes for 3 orders and restaurant was almost full. The fish tacos were very tasty and not greasy like other spots. Food servings are a bit small compared to other places, but food is...
