Drove there from Atsugi only to be disappointed by the food, service, and prices.
The Service The service at the restaurant was bad. Other than welcome us, take our orders and money, that is the only interaction we had with them. Since this was our first time dinning there, I was hoping to be able to talk to the owner about our thoughts on the place, but either he/she wasn't there, or they couldn't be bothered.
The Food Completely uninspiring! The food at best was mediocre. I could get the same mediocre quality from any cafeteria. I particularly want to point out how tasteless the etouffee was. It was a watery soupy mess! It tasted like they just boilded water, added Tony Chachere's Original Creole Seasoning, shrimp, and rice. Speaking of the shrimp, they were over-cooked, tough, and chewy. The only "ok" part of the dish was the rice, but it is hard to mess that up. I also had the southern sweet tea with free refills. After I finished the first glass of tea, it took the staff several LONG minutes to notice that the glass was empty and to refill it. Now remember, we were the only two customers in the entire restaurant, but they missed that. After I finished the second glass of tea, they didn't even bother to refill it. I guess their definition of "free refills" means a two-glass limit.
The prices for the food was too expensive, especially since I wouldn't rate it better than cafeteria food. The total mess that they called etouffee was ¥1,600. The catfish/beans and rice combo was almost the same. I'm ok with paying those kind of prices for delicious quality food, but those prices are too expensive for the low quality they actually serve.
I could go on and on about what was so wrong with the restaurant (plastic chairs), but I hope people who read this, including the owner, get the idea of how bad our experience was. It is a definite DO...
Read moreChanged for the worst. This is not the same Nawlins that you might be used to if you've been to their old location. They moved down the street to a much smaller location. 4 small tables and 4 bar seats. They no longer serve alcohol yet have a shelf of coupe, cocktail, and rocks glasses shelf behind the bar. The menu options seem similar to what they had before they moved. What really disappointed me was the atmosphere and quality of food. Let's start with the atmosphere. It was dead empty with 0 energy. The staff doesn't talk to you and there is no one else to talk to. Especially because there is pretty much no bar top seating where people can just eat, drink, and socialize. Now onto the food, which was my biggest disappointment. I ordered the brisket po boy sandwich. The brisket was literally cold to the touch. The meat was bland like it was boiled. No flavor of smoke or chat like you would expect from "authentic new orleans bbq". The bread was like rubber. I had to take a firm bite and rip it away to break through. After my first few bites I literally sat back in my seat and contemplated just paying for my food and leaving to get food elsewhere. It's truly unfortunate that this place seemingly went "fancy" in style but lost all of its authentic southern quality and vibe. I frequented this restaurant often when I was stationed here and was somewhere I was looking forward to going to after not having been in Yokosuka for a few years. Sad to say that I will not be coming back to this place or recommending it to any family or...
Read moreI tried this place earlier this week. I got the Catfish and fries, with a side of Mac and Cheese. My friend got the Brisket Sandwich with cornbread on the side. We also got the Mango Homemade Ginger Ale and the Brownie for desert, which was cute. The Catfish was a very under seasoned but I will say it was fresh out of grease. The fries and Mac and Cheese were very cold. I personally didn't enjoy the Mac and Cheese and the cornbread all that much. To me, the Mac and Cheese was not good at all, I think that there is slight potential there but it needs a COMPLETE rejuvenation. But that Brisket sandwich... was IMMACULATE! It was absolutely delicious. The way the pickles compliment the brisket along with the combination of whatever that white sauce is CHEFS KISS!! Which I will definitely get again, and again, and again! If the Brisket was actually my order and not my friends I would give 5 stars overall because Mr. Man back there in the kitchen put his feet in that Brisket Sandwich! But being that I only had a bite of his sandwich and my food wasn't that great I give it 3 stars. Lastly, I will say it was a bit overpriced though. However I would definitely come back for that Brisket Sandwich. It...
