The ambience of the dining room is uniquely modern and spacious yet cozy. This was my favorite aspect of the experience.
The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked and well presented, the sides that accompanied it were excellent.
In terms of food my only complaint would be that the Caesar salad. Typical of Japan, it was not a proper Caesar. The dressing was a bit sweet and cloying. The lardons, while not necessary or traditional in a Caesar salad, were very well cured, smoked and presented.
The big shortcoming of the whole experience was the service. We were ignored for a full 15 minutes on arrival even though, having decided on our orders, we had set our menus down. I had several questions about the menu. And every question was met with, “let me confirm with the chef“. It is my opinion that servers should know the origin of the beef offered on the menu in a restaurant that specializes in steak. Nobody knew the origin or grade of the Wagyu they serve. “It’s Okinawan” was the only answer they could provide. And no one knew the origin of the standard beef on the menu. (It’s USDA, probably Prime, but they weren’t sure)
This is a great place for a date, and I will be back in the future for the ambience. And the steak was very good.
The Akebana non-alcohol cocktail was fantastic.

Read moreI recently dined at this beachside restaurant, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The grilled Wagyu steak was a standout, perfectly cooked and accompanied by an array of delectable flavors to enhance the dining experience. While the Thermidor lobster fell short of expectations, appearing slightly overcooked, the extensive menu offered plenty of other enticing options.
The ambiance of the restaurant is incredibly inviting, with its beachside location offering unparalleled views. The prices are reasonable considering the high quality of the cuisine and the elegant atmosphere. Additionally, the restaurant offers a commendable selection of wines to complement the meal.
One notable aspect of this establishment is its focus on shared plates, encouraging a communal dining experience that adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Despite the minor setback with the lobster, I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to indulge in fine dining with a beachfront backdrop. Overall, it's a fantastic dining destination worthy of its...
Read moreWe stayed at Hoshinoya Resort and thought we should give their restaurant a try. Wow! What disappointment. The pork was a thin sliver of overcooked meat, whose flavor is overpowered by a thick heaping of sweet sauce. The steak was another disappointment. Another thin cut, but much more chewy, and reminds me of the cut I used to get at the supermarket discount section when I was a student. The salad was basically a bowl of iceberg lettuce with hints of other vegetables. Finally the desert came. We ordered the gelatos. There were only two scoops while the picture showed three. I guess inflation must have hit them hard, or the restaurant was ordered to bank on their brand and skimp on the ingredients. This was a disappointment that left us confused about the meaning behind the Hoshinoya brand. I gave it two stars instead of one because of the nice view and amazing access to the beach below. However, don’t expect to see much after sunset, even under...
