Stopped by Telato in Yufuin and went all out with their matcha gelato—tried four flavors because we couldn’t resist: different intensities of matcha, plus Gyokuro and Yame Matcha. Shared them among us, and honestly, every single one was soooooo good. Creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. The most expensive one (highest intensity) was super bold—my friend, a matcha lover, tried it and said it was overkill, even for her. If you’re a matcha amateur but don’t mind the bitterness, the 4x flavour is the way to go. It’s the perfect balance between sweetness and the intnesity of matcha. It’s also the one that seems to sell out the fastest.

The shop is a bit of a walk from the rest of the action in Yufuin, and there seems to have been a bit of a price hike lately, but the quality of the ice cream definitely makes it worth it.

We really enjoyed the matcha gelato that was offered here. In the past, we have gone to a similar place and opted for the strongest flavour but once having done that, I can say that the recommended level of 3 actually really hit the spot. Strong enough flavour to appreciate the quality of the matcha but not overpowering. The texture is also really nice so I would recommend in general. May consider trying their other non matcha...
