We were extremely fortunate to walk in and get a table for six for a Sunday lunchtime, but we were very glad we did. Portuguese food isn’t necessarily our favourite food, but we all agreed that after three weeks sailing around the Channel Islands and Brittany, eating in many restaurants along the way, this was the best meal we had eaten. We were warmly welcomed, and chose a number of dishes, most of them we then shared - we’ve learned from travel in Portugal (and a Brazilian relation, there seems to be a common link in culinary terms) that you won’t ever leave hungry. The prices might seem a little high (where can you get a “cheap” meal in Jersey? Burger King perhaps…) but they are almost all big enough to share. The espetadas were particularly good, especially the scallop one. Wonderfully fresh ingredients. The pasteis de bacalhau were as good as anything we’ve eaten in Portugal and there was an excellent choice of delicious side dishes (not just rice and chips, as in some other faux-Portuguese restaurants that don’t really care). Ambience was lovely, with a very pretty, homely interior. The staff were amazing, so friendly and polite, with amazing suggestions for their favourite dishes etc.,if stuck on the abundance of options ranging from traditional Portuguese dishes, fish, meats, starters and desserts. The skewers which we opted for, chicken, lamb and beef/prawn, were amazing and definitely a trademark of the restaurant! The more traditional Portuguese dishes were also extremely delectable, the food is filling yet the desserts make you forget about that with the homemade selection (which I advise to get) and the rest of the tarts etc. Overall an amazing experience and food!
