Roast — Restaurant in St. Helier

Me and my partner do not have the habit to go out for lunch but today we wanted to make a repeat at Roast, where we had been only for breakfast. I have to be completely honest with you- that was exceptional experience. I had a burger and my partner eggs Benedict. The chef use only high quality products and I did not had such a juicy, but not messy burger from a very long time. Went for a big breakfast, see photo. The coffee and meaty elements were decent but the rest of the breakfast felt unloved which let it down. This makes it hard to rate it higher, especially for an over 8 quid full English (over 9 quid for me as I upgraded my coffee to a cappuccino). It is nice to have the option to have poached or scrambled but charging extra for it feels a bit cheap too.

I did however enjoy the look of the cafe and liked sitting in the window looking out to the passing cars. The waitress was also friendly...

Hidden gem. Stumbled upon this when the first place we visited had us wanting to sit right next to other people and then was informed there was a 20 minutes wait.

Glad that happened as Roast is brilliant. Open from 08:00-11:30, a big range of breakfast and pancake choices and they seemed only too happy to accommodate customisation.

Plenty of seats available when we arrived, super-quick, super-friendly service and a decent cup of coffee too!
