I heard about Dau on Twitter and immediately decided to try it out. Wacha nikupe uhondo kamili wa kuaminika... The decor is inviting. Not flashy or posh, but done well. There's a touch of Swahili all over the place with many nods through artefacts that leave no doubt about Swahili being celebrated here. The music playing was Taarab so I knew these guys were serious. I ordered a chicken biryani which can be a hit or miss. This one was definitely a hit! The rice was moja moja and tasty. Kuku naye alikuwa na ladha ya hali ya juu. Harufu ilikuwa ya kutamanisha. I washed it down with tamarind juice which was true ukwaju. Oh, and as I waited for my meal, they served me cassava crisps saucer. I'll definitely return with my family.

I returned with family. The shawarma was a hit, as well as the...

Indulging in Swahili cuisine at this restaurant was a delightful journey for the taste buds! From the aromatic pilau to the mouthwatering biryani, every dish was a flavorful adventure. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the spiced meats were tender and perfectly seasoned. Don't miss the samosas and the delectable coconut-based desserts. The restaurant's ambiance, with its Swahili-inspired decor and warm hospitality, added to the overall experience. A definite must-visit for anyone looking to savor the rich flavors of...

Amazing place this was. The space is constructed primarily using wood. Say 90% which gives it a very warm feel. Good music and friendly staff made the experience fantastic. I tried their Chicken Biryani and Chicken Tika. All which were so good. Their rates are also quite friendly considering the location. Plenty of parking as we did not have to look for a spot despite it being a weekend. Would definitely recommend this for friends hangings or even small family functions such as Graduations...

This is pure Coastal vibes right in the middle of Lavington. Not crowded which is great, it's a small intricate place. The food was amazing, fairly priced and decent portions as well. They serve cassava crisps as a welcome snack for free and kaimati right after the meals. Their service is fast and the staff are warm. There was a sand pit where children can play and it was great- my child loved it. They also have enough parking space and the place is easily accessible.

Popped in for a quick dinner and ordered a fish dish that I have absolutely no chance of pronouncing. Luckily, I can finish it better than any sentence that I try to cook up in Swahili. I really like the feel of this place. It's simple - the premier league is playing in the big screen, the young developers are building their product while coding and having dinner simultaneously. It's an unpretentious place with good hearty food, the way African food is supposed to be.
